Yes, India does need a National Commission for Men. There is currently no dedicated platform where men can openly discuss their issues, seek support, or have their grievances heard. In a rapidly changing society, it is unrealistic to claim that men do not face serious social, legal, mental health, and family-related challenges.
Just as women have institutions dedicated to addressing their concerns, men too deserve a formal body that can represent their interests, examine policies affecting them, recommend reforms where necessary, and provide a safe avenue to voice their problems without stigma. Recognizing men's issues does not diminish women's rights; it simply acknowledges that every citizen deserves access to justice, support, and fair representation.
A National Commission for Men could help address concerns related to mental health, workplace issues, family disputes, parental rights, domestic abuse, suicide prevention, and the misuse of laws, while also promoting balanced, evidence-based policymaking. A society committed to equality should ensure that both men and women have institutions that listen to their concerns and work toward fair solutions.
