Monday’s visit to Woking was a timely reminder of why it’s one of our absolute favourites. The course was firm and their brilliant greens – which wouldn’t look out of place on the Kent coast – rolled great.

More from the same architect: "I always thought a really good green should be a healthy one with surfaces that are true and consistent. Whatever that speed is, if it matches with the slopes of the greens, that’s where you should be.”
