The new CGT legislation introduced by @AlboMP will cost Australian up to $4.5 billion for 30 June 2027 valuations according to our @WilsonAssetMgmt research.
Australians should not have to pay thousands of dollars for a valuation simply to ensure they are taxed on the gain they actually made. Our modelling points to a one-off national valuation cost of up to $4.5 billion, with the work required potentially reaching three to five times Australia’s available valuer capacity.
The valuation burden is only the immediate cost. With these changes applying to Australian businesses, the cost to the Australian economy will be tens of billions of dollars. Australia needs more investment in productive businesses, while higher taxes, compliance costs and complexity make it harder for those businesses to attract capital and grow.
The Government still has the opportunity to carve Australian businesses out of these changes before 1 July 2027. Wake up @AlboMP and carve them out!
