Melissa Barrera recently stated her desire to return to SCREAM if Spyglass no longer holds the rights of the series. My view is: Melissa should not be featured in any future SCREAM projects after her unprofessional behavior, specifically the way she spread false conspiracy theories about the financial success of SCREAM 7.

While many may personally enjoy her, we should have zero tolerance for Melissa’s conspiracy theories and attempts to spread misinformation about the producers allegedly manipulating and “lying” about the SCREAM 7 box office gross. Unacceptable.

In addition, Melissa used cruel and (again) unprofessional language against her previous co-stars for continuing to participate in SCREAM, calling them “scabs” last spring.

Wes Craven’s franchise deserves to move beyond the toxicity, drama, and attention-seeking cloud that has resulted from Melissa Barrera’s public persona.

(Also, there’s no evidence to suggest Spyglass is going to sell or lose the rights, so this is a moot point.)
