Anyone else notice that when a bill is beneficial to US, it takes hearing after hearing and infinite committee meetings to maybe pass the house
But when it's for Israel or Ukraine, it's passed before any of us even knew there was a bill
The problem with Michigan weather:
Summer and fall are unbeatable and unreplicable.
You can move away to a warmer climate. I did.
But it's not the same.
Not the same cool breeze. Not the same sound the wind makes moving through the trees. Not the same pine smell. The grass feels and smells different.
So you can leave, and miss all that. Or you can stay, and put up with rest of it. The cold, the clouds, the mud and snow. And find something good in that, too. I did.
@alexadoingstuff Left right or center, Michiganders need to ban together and push back on these data centers. They’re dangerous for the environment and we need to do everything we can to protect our waterways and Great Lakes.
Like Saline, my hometown in Michigan is fighting to stop the development of a 172-acre (Anthropic) data center. The proposed site backs up to residential neighborhoods, the town’s library, and my former elementary school.
The developer is now threatening the township with legal action if they continue to delay the project, knowing that the township doesn’t have the funds for a legal battle.
It’s so incredibly sad to see politicians like @GovWhitmer stand with tech villains instead of their constituents.
Sam Altman is in town declaring victory on a data center project they had to pass without public comment. We need Terms of Engagement at the federal level to keep Big Tech from rolling over state and local governments to shove projects down our throats without clear protections.
michigan’s centrist dems stand for nothing and fall for everything. that’s why whitmer is able to stand next to silicon valley’s biggest liar with a smile on her face
young couples trying to raise a family in our clown economy are admirable bordering on heroic, so if you have kids, its actually a patriotic duty to invade spaces where boomers, "childfree" redditors, disney adults, other sorts of foul beasts, cavort and stuff their putrid jowls
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
If boomers are so concerned with having to pay property taxes, they should start acting like it. They really just need to pick them up by the bootstraps and stop needless expenditures.
Instead of spending all that money on stool softeners, they could be putting that money into an index fund. 14 dollars on Metamucil? Not anymore. Fiber? Save your money. Zoomers are on carnivore diets, if they don't need fiber, neither should you.
Do you know how much electricity you're using with your heated blankets in the winter? Use a hot water bottle instead. You have property taxes to pay. It's time to make sacrifices.
Bingo every week? How about your financial responsibilities? Bingo once a year as a treat.
Mobility scooter to toot around in? You guys used to have to walk to school ten miles each day. Ytold us. us. A few steps at the grocery store will be nothing for you.
Boomers simply need to make sacrifices. They're the toughest generation, which they remind us of constantly. When it's time for nursing care, they can have the finest nurses aid, straight from Port-au-Prince. No need to get fancy. Property taxes await.
Boomers: “Houses aren’t unaffordable. Stop eating out. Stop buying coffee. Learn to budget.”
Also Boomers: “I can’t afford the property taxes on my fully paid off house.”
Sir.
You own the house free and clear.
No mortgage. No interest. No lender.
And the tax bill alone is breaking you.
But you want me to believe the problem is my Chipotle order.
The same system that’s pricing you out of a house you already own is the same system pricing us out of one we’re trying to buy.
Maybe it was never about the avocado toast.
