Fantastic breakfast hosted by @womeninsuper on Day 1 of #CMSF2022.
Great to talk to @Kyle_Rodda and @NadineBlayney today - a roof over your head now or a retirement income that provides dignity should not be mutually exclusive, we need to talk about how we all ensure they are both possible. @womeninsuper
@djrobstep @womeninsuper@georgiedent@the_parenthood There’s lots of voices like @womeninsuper calling for fundamental reform, incl. many in the union movement, business & civil society who are also calling for a raise in the pension & other safety net provisions. My org is bipartisan & have gone hoarse, aft 9yrs of voicing this.
@djrobstep @karak525@georgiedent@the_parenthood We can defend the system and the undeniable support it provides while advocating for structural change which will make the system more fair and to work for more people. It's not perfect, but it could be with the right policy settings.
@georgiedent 💯 not only do men have more to draw down on but the long term impact on retirement outcomes, which are already appalling for women, will be WORSE. This Govt is not serious about Women’s economic security. @womeninsuper always up for a chat with you & @the_parenthood
The Budget continues government's poor track record treating structural economic problems as “women’s issues”. Senior Economist @ak_pennington joins @womeninsuper 12:30 today to talk #Budget2022 & what it means for women & economy. Rego here >>>

Historically, the process has been long and convoluted, forcing many women, particularly those from low-income households, to miss out on assets they are legally entitled to. @CEWAus @HESTASuper @womeninsuper @super__rewards @SenatorHume Hume https://t.co/oNJv3TZGK1
AIST welcomes the removal of the $450 monthly salary threshold for super contributions. 300,000 lower-paid Australians, mostly women, will now get super payments from 1 Jul. A positive step toward achieving better retirement savings for low paid workers
