New side project:
A turn-based tactical game where you line up units to obliterate the enemy with a laser beam from space :D
Still very rough, but already more interesting than I expected.
3 months in, and I'm still obsessed with making my game.
I think about it constantly.
Each day I can't wait to finish my regular work so I can get back at it.
Currently there is nothing else I'd rather be doing in my free time.
Not sure this is a good or bad thing...
I got stuck into another rabbit hole while trying to prioritize making my game trailer... Send help!
Goal was to simply fix some progression screen issues to make better trailer footage.
But to get footage I specifically need, it was easier to implement the actual game progression system instead of trying to make specific placeholders of what i need.
But for the progression screen, the active modifiers also need to be shown.
So naturally I've been spending the evening implementing the full fledge modifier system that I specifically planned for after the trailer๐คทโโ๏ธ
@MjTheHunter Haha, yeah, it's been rough last week.
I did get some work done, but it's really a big shock how drastically my productivity and mental clarity is reduced when it's so hot.
Luckily today is already much better!
Decided to switch things around a bit. Instead of finishing everything on my todo list first, I just jumped in and already started working on the trailer.
Whenever I'll encounter something missing I need for a shot, I'll tick it off then.
@MjTheHunter Haha, very familiar!
Still, ending up with a much more deliberate and polished trailer is not a bad thing. Probably much better for your steam page
@levelsio@jelmerdeboer In my case it's even more ridiculous: my daughter's school does have AC. Yet still the school is closed because the government declared 'code red'.
So they want kids to stay home in mostly un-airconditioned houses instead. ๐คก
Getting really close to my first game trailer (and finally a steam page!) for LockLine.
Refined the script for the trailer video today. Very clear idea now how i want to present my game.
One downside: it added 9 additional items to my to-do list before i can make it happen ๐
I've been cooking!
Here's my 'Neo-Noir' environment for the 3rd act. Including rain effects.
On a sidenote, can't believe how hard it was to find a decent rain sound that does not include thunder.
Working hard to get ready for a trailer.
An important thing is to show of variety. So that's why I've been working on different environments.
My industrial environment for act 2 of my game is now done! One to the next set!
Sometimes it is good to look back to see how far you've come. Especially when you start to feel you are not progression at all.
Below the first prototype vs. what it looks like after almost 3 months. Same map.
Still a lot to do though!
@2WheelerDev For my first game it's actually pretty simple: managing to complete the game and have it available on steam.
Anything beyond that is bonus.
Some task stay on the todo list way longer than they have any right to.
For me, that was proper bridge sprites.
Finally tackled them, which means at last I can show off my new map!
