Yes Chad, thank https://t.co/2YopCQt5iJ is my understanding the Old Testament includes some debt forgiveness, gleaning rights, and criticisms of leaders for the conditions of the less fortunate. (I’d be interested in seeing those Old Testament passages about taxpayer programs if you can in your reply) It’s not that Jesus ‘didn’t want’ forced payment systems. It’s just that he ‘didn’t advocate’ for those. He obviously cared deeply about the poor, however His teachings were more about personal responsibility and giving of oneself charitably and voluntarily.
@FurrRachel34113@DaganCooper@j_groteluschen@jared_shult Yes Jesus may have fed them. The church he started may have fed them. He may have helped the child’s parents get a job as he would want the parents to provide for the child. He likely would not have advocated for the government to provide lunches w taxpayer $$.
The smaller the government, the more money available for citizens to donate to those in need. “For, By and Of” is from a legislative point of view, not a charitable one, necessarily. At least I believe that’s what our founders had in mind. Thank you for your comment. It is one of the more civil responses I’ve received on this thread!
Your statement is exactly why government (people in power) should not be responsible for charity. Human spirit and goodwill is stronger, more generous, and more efficient than the government. You cannot guarantee there will always be government money, but there will always be goodwill amongst mankind.
@DaganCooper@j_groteluschen@jared_shult Jesus advocated for personal responsibility and voluntary charity. He never called for the Roman system to be a provider of food. Matthew 19:21, Mark 10:21, Luke 18:22, 12:13-15, 19:8-9, 20:25, Matthew 22:21, Mark 12:17)
Jesus never advocated for the government (or taxpayer money) to go towards providing for the poor. He wanted individuals to be directly charitable to those in need. He wanted generosity to come forth willingly from an individual, but not forced from a government. There is a distinct difference.
Of course you heard about the two people shot by ICE, but did the media ever report about Jimmy? Of course, not, that’s why I do this and ask for your help informing people of what the media does not want you to know. I’m sure this will be on this evening on the evening news today.😉
