I'd love to see an entire film studio start taking a pre-90s approach to movie making. No CGI, real costumes and sets. I've pretty much given up on anything in the vein of those Marvel movies. And for God's sake, give the writers a chance to be creative.
Guillermo del Toro refused to make #Frankenstein with too much visual effects and green screens: "I want real sets."
"I don’t want digital. I don’t want AI. I don’t want simulation. I want old-fashioned craftsmanship. I want people painting, building, hammering, plastering."

If the arts become automated and made with AI - there will be no more creators, only consumers.
Maybe consumers will be happy to digest mashed-up mixtures of all the hits that came before. From here on in. Nothing new.
An endless culture-slop. A culture eating its own crap.
@MrEwanMorrison I spent a week in northern British Columbia when I was a teenager. I've never experienced such dark nights before or since. It was truly humbling.
@davidfrum Years ago when I was applying for a variety of English teacher jobs in the public school system, the district's attitude was, if you can speak English you can teach English.
@MrEwanMorrison I owned an independent video store until 2016, and I remember how bad the last three or four years were. There were weeks when I had a hard time finding ANYTHING worthwhile to bring in for rent. I remember thinking, the writing is on the wall for this industry.
Honestly, it was his age that made the voice so shocking. To hear a man this young singing like some dude in his 40s who's just been beaten to hell by life, is remarkable.
@20th_Centurygal I love anything by April Wine. My best friend's brother saw these guys live at his high school in '69 if you can believe it. It was a really early version of the band before they moved to Montreal.
Tyrants view educated citizens as their greatest enemy.
Slaveholders stopped the enslaved from learning to read. Nazis burned books. Dictators censor media.
That’s why Trump is attacking education, science, museums, and the arts – to prevent us from learning.
It's Fascism 101.
