I would agree with your assessment.

But consent is not consent if it’s done under fraud and deception.

Do you know in the state of California and many other states even if you “consent” to strangulation during sex the law does not recognize your consent. It is not a viable defense. California law says you cannot consent to something that could cause you significant harm.

There is nothing wrong with vanilla sex. A very close friend went through significant strangling incidents during sex. She’s no longer in this relationship, but she has said all she really longed for was vanilla sex. And maybe an orgasm. But the malignant narcissist who was a sexual predator, could not deliver that.
