@British_Airways I sent this from my work account rather than my personal account - have now messaged you from my personal account, which is what I intended to do originally!

#Women shouldn’t have to choose between escaping #DomesticAbuse and keeping their #job.

Paid leave and a supportive workplace can make all the difference in getting out of a dangerous situation.

[Jonathan Tranter @jonathantranter]

“Less than 1% of the general population has been in care, but about a quarter of people in prison. 1% of the general population have been excluded from school, 42% of all prisoners” @PrisonRadioUK https://t.co/GOMSqQsQrX

[Surviving Economic Abuse @SEAresource]

We're backing proposals to introduce paid 'safe leave' for victim-survivors of domestic abuse.

This would allow victim-survivors to access the support they need without risking their employment or further damaging their economic situation.

Our #JusticeSystem is costly & getting more expensive.

Prison expansion plans could cost up to £10.1bn. The Sentencing Review & Women’s Justice Board are a chance to reduce the number of women in #prison, ease pressure on the system & drive real reform.

'The sad reality is we can't build our way of this problem'

Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood spoke to #BBCBreakfast about plans to create 14,000 more prison places in England & Wales and changes to planning rules

Prison is not a place of safety for unwell women. It’s unsafe, inappropriate, and fails those in real mental health crisis.

[Working Chance @WorkingChance]

Domestic abuse is a common thread in the lives of many #women in the #JusticeSystem and #prison adds to their trauma.

Strengthening community networks and diverting #women to services like women’s centres could help reform our #JusticeSystem to better support women.

60% of #women in #prison report experiencing domestic abuse.

For #16DaysOffActivism, we’re spotlighting how gender-based violence, trauma & mental health challenges often drive women’s offending. Let’s address the root causes & provide the support women need to break the cycle.

[Working Chance @WorkingChance]

Women lose out on job offers or are dismissed. Many tell us about feelings of frustration and powerlessness, forced to relive past mistakes.

This must change. We should not allow a person’s ability or ambition to be overshadowed by their past (3/3) https://t.co/K6If6r7Lpw

[Working Chance @WorkingChance]

Louise Haigh’s recent resignation as Transport Secretary has sparked debate about the realities of life for people with convictions.

In 2014, Haigh received a conditional discharge order - the lowest sanction the courts can impose - for fraud by misrepresentation. (1/3)

[Working Chance @WorkingChance]

Now, over a decade later, her conviction is spent and next year will become protected and filtered from her record.

Resonating deeply with Haigh’s situation, many women Working Chance support face judgement and prejudice because of their convictions. (2/3)

[Prison Radio Association @PrisonRadioUK]

Tomorrow marks the beginning of 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence ✊

How do we use radio and creativity to support female domestic abuse survivors in prison, alongside @WIP_live?

In her blog, Molly shares why it's crucial to value and consult women with lived experience of the #JusticeSystem. We're incredibly proud to have Molly on our Advisory Panel. ✨
