The lady at the charity shop today told me that she wishes people would clear out their children's old toys in the lead up to Christmas rather than after because she always sees a number of parents in the days before Christmas looking for toys for their little ones who might be strapped for cash. She said there's very rarely anything in just before, but that they get inundated with toys in the days after.
And it really made me think about it in a way I never would have before.
If you know your child is going to get lots of presents from Father Christmas this year, by clearing out your cupboards a few days early, you could make another child's Christmas a lot more special too.
Saw this & thought I'd repost.

On this Thanksgiving Day, we thank our volunteers. In the last 5 years DC Books to Prisons has mailed more than 35,000 packages, providing critical resources to thousands of men and women in facilities nationwide.
I'm old enough to remember pre-Roe.
I was a kid but I remember signing the cast of a teenage girl in my family that I idolized because she let me play her records and taught me how to ride a skateboard.
Years later, my mother told me she broke it "accidentally" throwing herself down the stairs because she overheard the boy, who violently date-raped her, talking about "doing the right thing" in her living room with her dad.
Luckily, in those days, a D&C for a miscarriage was a routine procedure. So she got off light.
Yeah, we remember. And we're voting AF.
When I was on line to vote yesterday in North Carolina , there was a poll worker making an announcement that " Only one person is allowed in the booth and husbands and wives MAY NOT go in together."
Wow. ( This is 2024, right? )
And God Bless you, Sir.
Arizona Dem running against Kari Lake foe the US Senate, RUBEN GALLEGO, had promised to visit all 22 of the state's federally recognized tribes. But there was no road leading into the Havasupai village of 639 people. So he trekked in on foot. It took him 4 hours to walk there.
Our used and rare book collection is growing thanks to an amazing donation by a local scholar of over 500 titles mostly from the 60s & 70s. If that’s your thing, you should stop by. We will be hosting our first rare book fair this December, but the good stuff might be gone by then. Stay tuned. Reminder we are open daily 12-6 pm and online 24/7. Haven’t seen some of you in a good long while. Toodles!
