The wealthy elite (not specific to Dave) want everyone to believe AI is the future & the end-all-be-all because they’ve invested heavily into it. They need a return on their investment and this narrative helps secure that. imo, basic skills, creativity, & critical thinking will become even more valuable
INC openly supports corrupt politicians who blindly forward their agenda, use its members as pawns to protect/advance the politics of their higher ups, but also claims to be disentangled from politics so their tithe and other activities are tax-free. It’s giving salot sa lipunan.
This Indian army officer who had served for two decades in the army and had retired to begin working with UN peacekeeping missions, was the first UN-associated international casualty from Gaza in May 2024. Natl media never mentions him anymore and PM got a medal from his killers.
Because she probably wrote a bunch of well received screenplays that just haven't been produced, which is how it goes for many writers once they're being hired by the studios. (I know offhand she wrote a totally different Supergirl script for Sasha Calle I presume people liked)
no libraries, no weatherproof third spaces that aren't malls or cafes, little investment into afterschool programs or sports that aren't basketball (and even then it's a streetside or improvised court someplace), next to no support for budding artists and creatives
“kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan" has become the reasoning of lazy parents/adults on how to raise and empower the youth.
they think bec of that phrase its the responsibility of the youth to raise and discipline themselves.
i know a lot of oomfs who used to work in local PH animation studios, but then they quit because the working conditions were brutal. my hope is that after all these filipino-focused animations, that working conditions get better for all local studios.
in pure philippine fashion the gov't is considering banning video games (which is unenforcable and terrible for kids that barely have hangout spaces irl outside of schools) and lowering the criminal age of liability instead of actually addressing the root cause of youth violence
This is making rounds again, but I have to say for as much as Disney puffs up Walt, you'd think they'd understand the importance of supporting the creators behind characters they use and not leave them hanging.
I get that's not always viable but at least try sometimes.
An important point to consider:
Kung ang nakikita ng mga kabataan ngayon ay hindi pinaparusahan si Bato Dela Rosa, o ang ibang mga pulis at sundalo na walang habas kung pumatay, hindi rin sila mangingiming ilagay ang batas sa kanilang kamay.
State violence breeds more violence.
I'LL SAY IT AGAIN:
IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL to charge a "convenience fee" for paying a bill online. The convenience is for the company. The fee is for you.
Unfortunately, treating it simply as a mental health issue will not fix the problem. It is also a miseducation and maleducation of the Filipino youth issue. It is also an issue of the pervasive culture of violence and impunity. Part of it is the growing far-right extremism.
Instead of powering thousands of households, the PH gov, in cahoots with amerikkkan imperialists, want to siphon energy towards high-tech facilities that *include* data centers 🙃 papayag ba tayo sa kalokohang to?
We can respect faith while being honest about history. "Gold, Glory, and God" was a political tool to control the Philippines for 300 years. It’s easy to say it wasn't forced when you clearly haven't read a single history book on the matter. Do the research.
