This edition of the congress will hold special significance as it will be organized in memory of Prof. M. Ali Özcel, the founder of the WorldLeish congress series, whose pioneering contributions to medical parasitology and leishmaniasis research have inspired generations of scientists and practitioners worldwide. We are honored to dedicate this meeting to his legacy.

Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease that is found in parts of the tropics, subtropics, and southern Europe. It is classified as a neglected tropical disease (NTD), with between 700.000 and 1 million cases each year.

WorldLeish7 is the world's most important congress on Leishmaniasis, that will take place in May of 2022 in Cartagena, Colombia, declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It expects researchers, professionals, health authorities and students from around the world.
