Tech Entrepreneur, Writer, and Business Consultant
Talk is cheap, but experienced minds speak valuable words. Gain Experience and don’t let your talk be cheap.
I've been talking with @lostdoesart, @FargoWiz, and some of my other knowledge-base about starting to do some consulting with what I've learned in my three years in start-ups.
Every once in a while, I talk with someone who is stuck because of a simple comparison error-- They seem to need the approval of some authority with "accreditation" to set a meaningful goal and pursue it.
I get it, but fuck... can they please just go do the thing? It'll work out eventually, so just do the fucking thing you're interested in doing.
I swear you will learn a shitload and then you will be competent and it will be okay.
There are 1 million paths you could go down in the future. There is no real structure and there is no real plan.
God I plead you to help them get the fuck over it and get to work PLEASE.
I recalled some critical truth this morning. Wisdom is born of knowledge and experience. A wise arrogance is Tenacity, the source of Perseverance, and the fuel of good vision.
What thoughts do you all have on this?
I've found more great business partners, @ConversatumCo got its first paying customers, and I'm gearing up to start a business strategy consultancy along with my software dev, design, marketing, and strategic partners who amount close to a century worth of experience.
...And we haven't even gotten started yet. Here's to 2025!
2024 has been my best year on record.
I got engaged to a woman who is my best friend, coach, and partner in all things--The person in this world who has grown my mind and heart in ways I never thought possible for me.
I could stop there, really.
But, it also seems that each year I learn faster than the last.
In 2024 I've had the greatest leap in my education for:
- personal organization
- team management
- creative management
- testing & iteration
- financial management
- investment
- marketing
- business strategy
- documentation
- systemization
...and probably several other verticals each a mile deep.
@Joseph_Fasano_ There are poems that resonate very deeply with some people on contact with no additional thought.
For the rest, its wildly confusing and full of interpretive pathways.
Unfortunately for me, this is one of those poems, and I'm in the latter camp.
I guess this is all pretty fundamental, but its just recently slotted into my brain in a way that I understand it as a fundamental part of business and can teach it to my future SonSul clients. (Let me know if you need any help, btw. I'll do it for free until we get the payment system online.)
Hey guys, I've had some great learning points in the last two weeks:
- The conversion funnel is DEEP.
- You need to be doing event tracking (firebase or other)
- You need to build customer feedback systems.
- You need to map out and understand your customer's journey to becoming one of your beloved paying customers.
Here's why these are key:
While @ConversatumCo has gotten 119k impressions and 701 new installs in the last several days, only tens of them have been making accounts, and fewer purchasing its world-class transcription. So, while the numbers at the top look nice, we need to be probing non-converting leads for feedback and checking where drop-off occurs at each stage in the user journey.
This sprint highlighted the importance of internal systems to promote communication and adaptation while you're moving. For us, this is now a discord server. For anyone managing teams or building products, I hope this serves as a reminder to prioritize communication, plan on the unexpected, and focus on growing, yourself, your team, AND your processes.
For other founders and entrepreneurs:
This experience also reinforced for me the dual journeys that we take: a personal one as well as one with our team. Personally, I’ve had to grow my leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
As a team, we’ve had to learn each other’s quirks, strengths, and weaknesses—and figure out how to accommodate them while collaborating on a vision and trajectory.
BIG NEWS:
@agencyartasaka and I just finished up the designs on the landing page for SonSul, my start-up consulting company.
The strat is to use our client meetings and @ConversatumCo to help small businesses plan their product, team, operations, and marketing.
