@emmieyaps Oh wow I kind of knew they didn't rlly teach it the same way over there but that's crazy 😭 I lowkey love talking abt stuff like this lmk if u ever wanna yap more I had a crazy fixation on the famine as a kid lmao
@emmieyaps They saw us as like less than animals and it continued for ages after the "famine" too. But yeah rlly interesting stuff, even now u can see the country roads from the famine times that are just abandoned dead ends to nowhere
It's actually so awful the way Irish as a language is treated by the goverment, like we spend 10+ years of school doing it as a subject and u don't even have the ability to speak it conversationally because it's entirely exam based and never applied to real life
@azulsgreed I never remember to I genuinely don't remember the last time I have 😭 sometimes I don't even remember to subscribe until I've been watching a youtuber for months
@seraphisonfire It is a little similar here too, like I can recognise and understand some words and phrases if I read them but I can't use it conversationally at all, it's insane because we do spend abt 13 years of school doing Irish as a subject but nobody ever becomes fluent from it
I was walking home in the dark just now for the first time with my glasses and genuinely was mesmerised at the streetlights wdym the lights aren't all spikey normally 😭
@woodlands_jam@seraphisonfire No cause I genuinely resented Irish as a subject and it's so horrible because I would absolutely love to be fluent like 😭 I actually have a few friends in college who are fluent and it's so cool when u hear Irish spoken as an actual language
