Long before we went on strike for 3 years to enforce our contract — and especially since then — Pittsburghers have been very clear about craving local, representative, culturally responsive journalism produced under dignified working conditions.
That requires a robust staff.
We are very, very glad that @pittsburghPG is surviving! We’re eager to turn over a new leaf with new owners who value journalism, and respect Pittsburgh.
We’re also concerned by the @VenetoulisInst's stated intent to cut jobs.
People really want one white man on a horse made out of money to save journalism in the same way that Charlie Brown really wanted Lucy to let him kick that football.

I do think folks learning the difference between a beat writer, a columnist, culture writer, commentator, investigative reporter, editor-at-large, etc. could help a lot.
