@DesideriaMesa As a high school teacher, I can tell you that most “guidance counselors” are not true counselors and not fully trained on how to help these students. Some of the biggest “mean girls” I’ve encountered as an adult have been the school counselors. Sad but true.
@SarahDoingStuff@GiftedTawk Nope. The 🤦🏼♀️ was more of a “thank you TikTok” than anything TBH. Like these are literal dance moves from a high school football player sitting in his chair while taking a test, not just the wiggles.
@peachlemonbee Oooooh 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Congrats! This was ME two years ago. Best decision ever! Your working environment and administration can make or break you! Best of luck!
@MartinOdimaJr Yes, and damnit I’ll “fix” them or die trying. Pisses me off when admin thinks I can “fix” kids, but it’s also a weird compliment at the same time… but also, those kids that others say need “fixing” are the kids I most connect with so. Idk.
@SarahDoingStuff@GiftedTawk First of all Sarah, I never once said anything was WRONG. Nor did I ever say they were punished or reprimanded for the behavior. So please stop being so defensive or assuming everything is negative. Don’t like a comment? …feel free to just ignore it.
@MissNikkiIn5th Our doors open in and stay locked. Each room also has a hole drilled in the floor just inside the classroom door. In a lockdown, a large bolt is placed in the hole. Even if an intruder breaks the glass, he can’t reach the bolt on the floor to unjam the door.
I took 21 hours of grad school classes this year and my admin just gave me a 2 out of 4 on my final evaluation in the area of professional development. 😤What would you do?
@TchnMaryPoppins None stated. I know my admin often says we can’t have straight 4s so that we show growth in SOME area. They tend to pick something that can always use growth (like parent communication). But a 2 instead of 3? On a year I was working on my masters? Psh…
@KimPoss41184381 No real impact. In fact I don’t know that anyone else would ever see that I didn’t get a perfect 4 (or care) which is why I am more apt to just let it go. But still kinda bothers me…
I am far more concerned about what kids are seeing on the Internet, video games, or cable tv than any book their qualified English teacher assigns them to read.
