Early 2021, with the expiring contracts and the lack of offense was extremely hard to watch. This 2024 Cubs team, in year 4 of the rebuild, with a $220+m payroll is easily the most boring, uninspiring, and frustrating team I've ever watched. I hate it here.
If you're wondering by how much the wind affected Patrick Wisdom's shoulda-been-a-homer today, the fine folks at Statcast3D and @WeatherApplied have you covered.
It was only .. SIXTY TWO FEET, thanks wind. Sorry @cubs.
Literally every single game is the same.
-Starting pitcher is great. Leaves game with a small lead.
-Offense manages just a few runs. Leaves a lot of men on base.
-Relief pitcher immediately blows small lead.
Just another Cubs game on a day that ends in “Y”
Literally said out loud "he's about to hit a walk off homerun" on delivery. Nothing but my gut told me, bc that's exactly what this Cubs team has conditioned me to expect.
@AkhilDaRealDeal Kobayashi got banned for an endorsement deal too if I remember correctly. It's time Congress steps in and does something about these clear anti-trust law violations. #breakupbigglizzy
@aliwhitesox Looked it up. Fangraphs has 39 pages of players in their WAR rankings. Page 39 includes Abreu, Maldonado, Beni. Page 38 includes Kyle Hendricks, Nick Madrigal, Andrew Vaughn, Shewmake, Yan Gomes, Adbert Alzolay, Nick Castellanos, Javier Baez, and Tim Anderson.
The fact is, the Sox are essentially a AAAA team, built with no intention to win; a bunch of guys who probably shouldn't even be in the majors. The Cubs are a $240M roster that has no identity outside of being fundamentally flawed. 2 totally different types of suck.
@EVR551 That must have been '17 or '18, bc I distinctly remember after the Cubs won it all, my stereotypical Sox fan brother texted me "Sox still won the cross town cup though" which they did as a result of tieing the series when being the previous winner.
