@iLLuminuttee@jason_samosa Part of growing up is realizing that your personal reality is more or less guaranteed to be bullshit. Or at least poorly aligned (at best) with whatever reality really is.
Doesn't mean you can't find meaning and joy in it. π
@TheZignal@rosscoulthart Did Lue dodge the question by saying he never said he was part of the legacy program? (Ross says he SHOULD say it.) π€·π»ββοΈ
Yellow flag on the play.
@MicahHanks "...depicting a decorative motif featuring a horned character with hands upraised."
Look to the east, toward the Mountain of Power. There you will find what you seek.
In UFO discussions people talk a lot about ontological shock. But I think there are other positions along that spectrum which might need terms.
* Ontological Anxiety
* Ontological Quease
* Ontological Dread
* Ontological FOMO
I have a question.
IMO governments could have acknowledged the existence of NHI, UFOs, and reverse engineering from the very beginning or at any time along the way without incurring any major societal, economic, or national security risks. Admitting these things would allow...
@wotzitt Hold my Romulan Ale...
If NHI are gearing for war, they're doing it stupid.
* Revealing presence/intentions for decades? Centuries? Millennia?
* Gifting technology
* Allowing enemy time to invent powerful weapons
* Allowing resource/biosphere depletion
@wotzitt If we really are facing a war, why the hell would the government hide that fact instead of getting the public on board and gearing up for defense ourselves?
We didn't win WW2 by pretending Germany didn't exist.
@wotzitt But that doesn't mean they don't want some form of control. What kind? Probably the same kind they've been exerting for the last 80 to 10 mil years. Not war.
Maybe its better to focus on what they would want, why, if we have any choice in the matter, and can we accept it if not.
@SunOfAbramelin@disclosureday I had some issues with premise and plot, but the sentiment was a brave one. Much easier to be cynical.
However, would've been a lot shorter if Scanlon had done the smart thing at the beginning and said to squeeze the device real hard.
@RHillwhat@AlchemyAmerican Trick is to not consume hype. That way things can be what they are, and what good you find will be a pleasure instead of less than what you expected.
@AlchemyAmerican No, Spielberg only included a few of the most universal elements of UFO lore with a simple moral about trusting humanity to deal with it.
No nazis, mummies, pyramids, hollow moons, or remote viewing Jeusus in a business suit.
@kellychasemedia In most free(ish) societies, you have a buffet of metaphysical opiates to choose from.
Here in Texas, atheism isn't the go-to flavor at all. It carries huge stigma. Atheists are often shunned and are legislated against in our state constitution.

@alexwg Well, how much would you pay for my uselessness?
A graphic designer 20 years ago seemed to understand this better than most today: https://t.co/vlk7JEPj6u

@TheZignal To control another computer system, you need an open port. Maybe telepathy opens our ports.
If ET-NHI, what do they want? What do you pursue once biology and resources are solved? Culture, legacy. How? Franchising, assimilation?
