I am not a professional singer.

I don't have a lifetime of vocal training, a touring band, or a record label polishing every rough edge. What I do have are stories—and reasons for telling them.

The songs of Writ & Rust are about harm, consequence, accountability, confinement, survival, and what remains afterward. They are not written to manufacture a heroic version of the past. They are written because some experiences cannot be explained honestly in a slogan, a legal filing, or a carefully sanitized biography.

Sometimes a story needs music.

I could place these songs in the hands of a more polished singer. They might hit every note more cleanly. But they would not have lived the events behind the words. They would be performing the story. I am telling it.

That does not mean the voice matters more than the song. It means perfection is not the price of admission to having something worth saying.

So no—I am not asking anyone to listen because I am a professional singer.

I am asking you to listen because these songs tell stories worth hearing from a point of view not often shared.

I weep for my peers who cannot comprehend the lesson set forth before them. Legally, you can defend yourself, but he took it to a whole new level. Once he was out of anger, he was no longer permitted to continue his attack, no matter how justified. We are not discussing opinion here, we are discussing the law. Period. End of story.

I am not saying I do not understand, I am saying that, legally, he committed assault and battery. He didn't just "defend" himself, he went on the offensive. Once a man is down and you are out of harm's way, you can no longer continue "defending" yourself. Not even in a stand your ground state.

If you are lucky enough to get a tip from me, it is because you far exceeded the expectations associated with the establishment you work at.
