I'm only moving across campus, but, as I pack, I'm realizing just how many of my office decorations are gifts from students and colleagues. Each has an easily recalled story. Life drops important reminders sometimes.

@MrJoeMilliano I love the idea, but could it be expanded to favorite meal, snack, food, or something a bit broader (and sans family). Asking the favorite meal the family makes could put some in an awkward situation in regard to both familial and economic situations. I know I would have been.

Just got a call from my utility company, which is good because there's a problem requiring my personal information. Who knew they could find me at an office number they don't have. You'd think they would know my name and which utility company they are but, anyway, thank goodness

@jessicazeller Definitely. As ours is a writing class, it's also helpful for the students to not only see the various ways of being successful but also the various ways of speaking to that success. The wonderful thing about #ungrading is that success can take so many forms.

@jessicazeller We talk about ways of making connections between learning opportunities and advocating for one's growth. We also practice. I provide the questions they will discuss with me about their work and they peer review their answers with each other first. We can then celebrate together.

For equity's sake and students in general, I don't want to put a statement on my syllabus of the institution's ability to punish (plagiarism and AI generated text) without a statement of the student's right to appeal. Students shouldn't need an expensive lawyer to know.
