I think I've solved my problem. Rather than trying to reanimate an old slur, with a new meaning, let's make "American" be a virtue again, and "unamerican" a curse. We've allowed the commies to shit on "American" for too long. Americans come in all races, in all colors. Americans needn't live in the United States. Americans believe in truth and justice. Americans believe in merit, hard work, property, not handouts. Americans are forgiving, but not without seeing real atonement. Americans are charitable, but don't expect someone else to perform our charity for us. Americans are not the world's police.
Make American Virtuous Again.
I'm an American!
#American
Perfectly illustrating why I don't use that word on X. But I don't care about ignorant. I care about violence and theft, especially against people they don't know. Historically, perps were mostly people with black skin. Nowadays, it's illegal immigrants. Low IQ appears to be correlated, but it's mostly cultural. Unamerican describes it, but without the necessary shame.
I have charged my iPhone, plugged in overnight (NOT under the pillow), since the iPhone was introduced in 2007. I get a new phone every other year.
Batteries used to need replacement after two years of use, but they don't any more (I bought a new battery from iFixit, and did the replacement myself, 2 or 3 times).
I have used my AppleCare, at an Apple Store, a few times in those nearly 20 years, but never for the battery.
A case with a 1 mm lip, so that the glass does not contact the ground when the phone is dropped, has always prevented screen breakage for me. I currently use the clear rubber case sold by Apple.
Never charge your phone overnight on a bed, couch, or pillow.
This is the #1 cause of battery damage and the #1 cause of phone fires he's seen in 15 years.
Here's why:
Phones generate heat while charging. On a hard surface, that heat dissipates. On a soft surface, a mattress, a pillow, a blanket the heat gets trapped against the phone.
The battery sits at high charge AND high temperature for 6-8 hours straight.
That combination is the single fastest way to permanently degrade lithium battery chemistry.
His words: "Every customer who comes in with a swollen battery — the kind that pushes the screen out of the frame — I ask the same question. 'Do you charge on your bed?' The answer is almost always yes."
The fix:
— Charge on a hard surface: nightstand, desk, floor — Better: charge in a different room entirely — Best: charge during the day in 60-90 minute sessions instead of 8-hour overnight stretches
Western civilization really needs to return to old-time justice, best illustrated in Western movies, where capital crimes are tried within a day or two from commission, court is attended by the entire community, under the sound of the gallows being hammered together in the public square. The guilty verdict is followed immediately, or at dawn the next day, by frog-marching the guilty to the gallows for public hanging.
And that's being nice. I think that heinous criminals should be executed by ancient, brutal methods, and their bodies should be disposed of by whatever means their culture believes makes their afterlife the absolute worst.
I'd name the brutal methods, but that would likely get my account reported. X is better than Twitter was, but still not free speech.
Rape and murder of someone you don't know qualify as capital crimes. Rape and murder of a child are heinous capital crimes. So is taxation.

Can't say. He told me that over 30 years ago. I respected him, so I believed it. He also showed us graphs of Measles and Polio incidence dropping precipitously BEFORE the vaccines became available. There was no internet in those days.
No longer an issue for me. My kids are grown. Neither was vaccinated against Measles and neither GOT Measles. Even though they went to a private school with lots of unvaccinated kids.
I was vaccinated against Measles, Polio, Smallpox, Tetanus, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Don't remember if I received Diphtheria or Pertussis vaccines. No others were available in the early 1960s. My mother believed in them. I was a kid.
Wife has a bachelor's degree in microbiology. She convinced me to go along with her conviction to vaccinate the kids against only Tetanus. My take-away was that, just as every disease is different, every vaccine is different. They must be considered independently.
More recently, I've learned that the adjuvants and preservatives are the real problem, and they are used in all vaccines.
I did not consider taking the COVID mRNA jab, because it was obvious that not enough long-term testing had been done. That takes at least five years. For each version of a jab. Flu shots are off the table for the same reason.
Anarchy is the nature of the universe: free will. As feared, warlords have taken power. They wear badges and run for office.
You're right that such will always happen. Warlords will take power. That's what they do. That's how you can recognize them, and know that they are evil.
But I'm not really interested in that any more. Old realization for me (2020). I AM interested in your absolute support of 2A. Please keep it up.
@gunpolicy It is unfortunate that when an unconstitutional statute is ruled as unconstitutional by the courts that all legislators who voted for it are not jailed for violating their oaths of office.
Businesses need to relearn proper phone etiquette:
If you're calling me, and I don't expect your call, it is proper to announce yourself, what company you're with, and why you are calling after I pick up the phone and say "hello."
Asking "Is this Peter?" as the first thing you say is NOT proper etiquette. I will hang up on you, even if we've spoken before.
I'm over your rudeness. Enough is enough.
