My 1st pd is 34 Ss 9-12 w everything from IEPs to IB/AP Ss so planning could be challenging. So I come in today & throw on my favorite music & say grab a partner to create a “Where I’m from” KHS poem. EVERY kid participated. Your name came up often @BPowell_BCPS they miss you

At the end of the period, the day, &!the week I have numerous Ss that come up & write random things on my board- it’s been a fun little tradition this year cause they’ve been so good about keeping it positive or creative with art.

Well when you’re up and at the ball field before 7am you play around with writing silly poetry about the ball parent life and working on those photography skills.

Sam has been working with me on the school paper for two years now and so proud of the growth he’s made as a writer and LOVE that he wanted to take on this story. It’s so awesome that kids can learn life saving skills like CPR in courses they’ve taken here at @KenwoodBCPS

Today’s class writing -some wrote for the BCPS Black History Month contest & some wrote about someone in their life. Moms- I read so many beautiful tributes from teenagers to their moms! I have a 14 yr old- it’s hard but these Ss just reminded me keep doing the hard- they notice!

12 years ago I was teaching a group of boys at @OMHS_Eagles & spending my Saturdays watching them wrestle for @Gr8N8toEduc8 . Those 2 years were some of the best! Tonight one of them met us. It was a wonderful reminder our kids @BaltCoPS grow up to be great people!

This time of the year is tough! I’m struggling; Ss are struggling. We broke out of the norm this week. We wrote tips of motivation on the board; listened to music, rather than fill in boxes on a doc we wrote & REVISED a 6 paragraph class essay to use as model. @BPowell_BCPS

An old article of mine good for today’s National Girls & Women in Sports day! I’ve seen my girls character & grit grow so much through their sports. They will look back one day & realize sports were about so much more than wins & stats.
