I just cried through my kid's 504 meeting in @SalemSchoolsk12 HS, because my own disability was too problematic.
I'm not sure how to advocate for my child when I can't get my own needs met.
I'm ashamed of my own deafness. I feel defeated. I feel inadequate.

@MissAliHylton Donβt be TOO quick to dismiss a name because itβs not exact. A lot of census info was copied down incorrectly, and also, depending on how literate the family was at the time β it could be completely wrong. My grandmother was the first literate person in her family. Born in 1924.
@MissAliHylton Also! If you need help, let me know! My father and I traveled the country when I was a teen to find the gravesites of our alleged ancestors, stopping at libraries everywhere to check microfilm and old books β€οΈ
@MissAliHylton If they canβt β does your Local Library have access to local history materials? The library I work at has an entire dept that is genealogy.... but we also have all local year books for MANY years. Also, depending on what year she was born in, her data might still be protected.
@saucymincks My ex and I were together for almost 7 years. He made a lot more than I did, and everything for the kids came from my account. I was ALWAYS broke. Like, mom having to meet me at gas stations, broke. At 5 years in I finally got him to agree to a joint account. I started a savings.
