A GREAT LOVE STORY

In 2005, David Beckham opened his football academy in Greenwich, London.

Among the young footballers present that day was an 11-year-old boy named Harry Kane.

By his side was Katie Goodland, a girl he had known since his school days in east London.

They posed for a photograph with Beckham.

At that moment, it was simply an image of two children meeting one of England's greatest football stars.

Harry and Katie could never have imagined what the next two decades held in store for them.

The childhood friends grew closer, started dating in their teens, and built a life together.

Harry kept chasing his football dream.

He came through Tottenham's youth academy, overcame several loan spells, fought for his place, and ultimately became one of the finest goalscorers England has ever produced.

In 2018, he captained the England national team at the World Cup and won the Golden Boot.

In 2023, he broke Wayne Rooney's record to become England's all-time leading men's goalscorer.

And the girl who appeared by his side in that old photograph stayed by his side through it all.

Harry proposed to Katie in 2017.

They married in June 2019 and started a family, having four children.

Years after that photograph, Harry even joked that Beckham was probably Katie's childhood crush.

But life had a different story in store.

The boy who once stood beside his football idol went on to become England's captain.

And the girl who was by his side became his wife.

Sometimes, an ordinary photograph only seems that way because we haven't seen the future yet.

Egyptian coach Hussam Hassan is a sore loser. Instead of accepting the result, he went on camera and claimed that FIFA wanted Messi to continue and Argentina to win for marketing purposes.

I haven’t heard a single coach make that kind of accusation during this tournament. Sometimes you simply have to accept that the better team won and move on.
