A sports journalist's job has never been to cover the sport. It's to tell good stories, wherever and however they're uncovered.
That whole "protecting the brand" thing? Maybe that's your business, but it isn't mine.
Sharing things others want hidden is part of the job.
One of the biggest shifts in sports + social right now? Our job isn’t really to cover the sport.
Yes, coverage will always matter to a degree. But if you’re buried in play-by-play, media scrums, and basic blocking + tackling, you’re never getting to great.
Real growth comes from building connection with fans and beyond. That happens through emotion, entertainment, access and personality. Sounds simple. Almost no one does it consistently.
Why? Because it means getting comfortable with the uncomfortable. Saying no to things we’ve always done. Getting a different kind of buy-in from athletes and leadership. Protecting the brand, but still letting the work be fun.
Getting to great means we stop overthinking. We trust our gut. We get out of the sports echo chamber. We don't take ourselves too seriously. And we have a pulse on what stops people in their scroll.
Craig Guy, Hudson County Executive, raised the Pride Flag with leaders from the HC LGBTQIA+ community. This year Hudson is hosting the AIDS/HIV Memorial Quilt in the rotunda of the Brennan Court House. A panel discussion about the quilt was held after the flag raising.
"Switching into this role might have hurt the team in the beginning, but over time, it helped. I was on the court doing all that I could." How @RandolphSchools defended its #NJVolleyball title https://t.co/2CivS2KGU3 @RHS_AD1

This house so prominent anyone on a boat tour goes right by it and can literally see inside. Multiple years on a dinner cruise would see naked people jumping into the water off the rock. Grew up in SE Idaho but would go to Coeur d'Alene most every summer for my dad's work trips.
The person who ran onto the court update from an NBA spokesman:
“The individual who entered the court area during Game 1 of The Finals was arrested & will be banned for life from all NBA arenas. A second individual will also receive a lifetime ban for his role in the incident.”
