@LauraPAuthor @RachelClynick I’m not going to offer advice because my son is autistic and I long ago accepted that screen time isn’t bad, it’s the world we live in. I met him half way and we do screen things together like golf or Mario on the Wii. He also plays chess through an app and listens to podcasts.

This is Naomi, she has autism. She's played for my team for the last 2 seasons, U8s and U9s.

At first, if it was raining she wouldn't even leave the house and if it started to rain during training she'd go sit in the car.
But now, especially in the second half of this season she's really coming out of her shell. She's been braving the great British weather for the past 18 months, but in the last couple of months she's been asking to go in goal in training (that was a massive no no previously). For me, the biggest change in her has been the way she behaves on a Saturday. Before she was fairly static, wouldn't get involved too much and if the ball came near her, she'd just kick it in whatever direction she was facing. Now though, we have "beast mode" Naomi. She is composed, takes a touch, passes forwards, runs with the ball and joins the attack. A few weeks ago she got her first ever assist. 2 weeks ago she was inches from her first ever goal. And last week she captained the team. However, the biggest and most noticeable difference is the fact that she is actually CALLING for the ball. Last weekend she was asking to be passed to!!

All this from a young lady who wouldn't even leave the house some weeks. Now she's asking to receive the ball. For the vast majority that's "normal" but for Naomi, it's enormous!

I'm immensely proud of her and the support that she gets from her Mum, step-dad, Dad and step-mum is vital.

I would love it for the whole grassroots family to bask in how fabulous she is!

She's an inspiration! She inspires me to be a better coach and I'd love it if she could inspire someone else with similar struggles, even just one!

On Sept 28th, 1982, 12 year old Mary Kellerman was hospitalized after being poisoned by a killer who laced a bottle of Tylenol that was on a store shelf, with cyanide. She died the next morning. A day later, six more would die from poisoned Tylenol.

By October 5th, Johnson & Johnson had issued a nationwide recall of 31 million bottles of Tylenol, and launched a massive advertising campaign to get people not to consume any of their products that contained acetaminophen (Tylenol)

The 1982 event inspired a rapid and radical shift in how certain products were sent out, quickly prompting manufacturers to start using tamperproof packaging. Untold lives have been saved in the years since.

The crisis management response by Johnson & Johnson is taught today as a model of corporate public relations and public safety.

These fucking shootings should be SIMPLE to fix. We KNOW how to rapidly bring about a massive reduction in school shootings and the senseless deaths of children and staff. We KNOW how.

It’s not happening, because organizations like the NRA spend millions upon millions of dollars to make sure GOP politicians do NOT allow those solutions to be implemented.

The NRA rewards the GOP for allowing our children to continue being slaughtered.

It’s NOT that we don’t know how to crush this. That, has never been the problem.

I was in hospital in 2020. @underthcranes (Emma) and the children couldn’t come in to see me from Mar 28 till mid-May when (special conditions) they wheeled me into the atrium so she could help wake me up from the coma. I’m delighted Johnson and pals were partying at the time.

3 years ago today my dad died of a stroke. We were only allowed to have 9 people at his funeral. We weren’t allowed a wake. I wasn’t allowed to hug my crying sister.

We followed ALL the rules.
