I set myself the goal of finishing a rough draft of a book in 2024 (just to see what all the fuss was about). I made it, with 48 hours to go. It was… hard.
So hard.
I learnt a lot, even after 15+ years as a fiction editor.
Some of the things that surprised me:
Fancy a bit of espionage, a little mystery, more than a little romance? All set in Shanghai and Hong Kong in 1996-97? On Borrowed Time is currently 99p on Kindle. (just don't ask me who Walter Hall is...) #hongkong#shanghai https://t.co/WHd1nTPYBF

One of the best things about publishing a book is getting to meet other authors, and there'll be 9 (!) of us at this event at Farsley Litfest, with @TrumanBooks, chatting about our debut novels. And ticket holders have a chance to win all 9 books! Come and join us on Nov 3! ⬇️

Is there a specific word for that bittersweet feeling when you come to the end of a book you have loved and there are no more pages to turn? In my case The House of Doors by Tan Twan Eng.
If you're anywhere near Norwich, go to this! If you're not near Norwich, take a train to Norwich. Just not one of Sarah's trains...well, not unless you want a strange and wonderful adventure.
Do I know anyone who's been a Writer in Residence of a landscape (as opposed to an institution) - like a national park or a woodland or anything? Some of you must have. I know you people bloody love a residency.
Writers - don't forget to submit your 500 word piece of Flash Fiction or Flash Non-Fiction for the QuietManDave Prize 2024 - deadline October 25th, open internationally, enter here: https://t.co/dYXAAf8Bcq
