@DependencyBonn
After five amazing years @GenderHistory my colleagues and I @unishefhistory are passing on the baton to edit this wonderful journal - please spread the word. We are looking for a team based at the same university. Also of course happy to answer any questions.
CALL FOR BIDS: Our current editorial team will step down in June 2025. We are therefore inviting bids from teams of academics based in the UK, USA or Canada who are interested in editing Gender & History. Find out more information about how to apply here 👉https://t.co/4SU0I7wFgz
Reading about the Acts of Silvester (where Helena appears as patron of Jews) and learning that Wilhelm Levison, one of most influential scholars of the Acts, started working on them only after his unnamed mother (!) copied the rare 15th century edition for him #thanksfortyping
@tigerlilyrocks I know it's a bit trite to make a whishlist for you (as you would rightly point out, I could edit Wikipedia myself), but did you know that the new Camden Professor does not have a Wikipedia page, I think 😯https://t.co/9EK40gCr5x
@UllaMR@19Averil Anyway, it’s heartening that people are upset about cuts to Arabic and Latin (rightly so!) but French, Italian and German are under threat here too - and there have been many, many cuts to these subjects already, including in UK universities, with little public outrage 🤷♀️
@UllaMR@19Averil This is essentially about mod. languages, European and non-European, and yes, they are also under threat because the global predominance of English is decreasing student nos. in these subjects. The irony is that Dutch universities are now also supposed to teach less in English 🤷♀️
@_Dragases_ Quite! And of course late antique historians have looked beyond the "Greeks and Romans" for decades now. Perhaps a bit of a case of "speak for yourself" 😉
