Oxford commas are funny things. AP Style (the journalism style guide) refuses to use Oxford commas, but other style guides prefer them. Personally, we think they provide clarity, but we do understand that some writers are morally opposed. When you're writing, just pick a side!
Em dashes are those nice, longer lines you see. They can often provide emphasis! In addition to that, em dashes can act as a great alternative to other punctuation, which can give your writing some flair. Don't forget: an em dash is NOT the same as a hyphen!
