@theenglishtrogg@LordAshcroft The fact reform won’t reverse the 2child benefit cap to protect there red wall voters. Tells me they are no different to the prev Tory Govt. Reform will do anything for power, which is a big red flag to me.
Been getting a lot of very positive reaction to my extended interview with @KemiBadenoch - which has now had over 600k views.
Her party may still be very unpopular but Ms Badenoch is getting increasingly popular.
First, you can use the tax revenue to cut bills.
Second, your balance of payments improves which lowers costs across everything.
Third, there are entire sectors supported by the oil and gas industry - chemicals, plastics, even renewables - which is why a Government attacking its own industry is sheer insanity.
You talk about the centre ground, which is something you seem to think other people create - rather than accurately diagnosing the country's problems and pushing for the right solutions.
Maybe that’s why you pushed Net Zero legislation with no plan and with no forecast on the cost of energy.
Growth and cheap reliable energy is our priority.
Polygamy is illegal in the UK.
But if you’ve married 4 wives overseas and moved here, you could claim up to £78,000 in benefits. Paid for by British taxpayers.
That is absurd. Conservatives will end this.
The greatest legacy of the Starmer leadership will be that the great British public have finally had conclusive proof that most mainstream politicians will say anything to secure a vote and a bit of power only yo backtrack the instant they have it. We're seeing it at it's rawest with Burnham right now.
Thankfully, it seems that it's not working and if Burnham loses, it may well kick start the political reset that this country has long been desperate for.
After 18 months of “standing up to Putin” the Labour govt quietly issued a licence allowing imports of Russian oil refined in third countries.
Yesterday Labour MPs voted AGAINST UK oil and gas licences.
We are now importing from Russia instead of drilling in the North Sea.
Insane.
The Government is potentially in contempt of Parliament.
By failing to publish unredacted documents, they are failing to abide by the Humble Address on Lord Mandelson's appointment as our Ambassador to the US.
This is unacceptable, and unless the Government stops the obfuscation, I will raise the matter as a matter of contempt.
I reminded the House that the now PM, Keir Starmer, established a precedent for this in December 2018, when he secured a motion holding the then-Government in contempt.
A little bit about Andy Burnham...
He has repeatedly ignored Rochdale and Oldham rape gangs.
He wasted £100m+ on failed Clean Air Zone before U-turning.
He oversaw Greater Manchester Police collapse amid a crime surge.
He was Health Secretary during the Mid-Staffordshire NHS deaths scandal and cover-up between 2005-2008.
He claimed £17k expenses for a London flat within walking distance of Parliament.
He's just as bad as the rest of them, perhaps even worse...
I guess that’s why the pound tumbled upon news of his leadership bid.
@RupertMyers@ToryMemo82 Farage is turning reform into the last Tory government. Being all things to all men in the red wall but trying to steel right wingers. Kemi won’t make those mistakes again.
When @KemiBadenoch asked me if I would go into the House of Lords I asked 2 things of her, 1st I wouldn’t lie (she said great that’s ok with me) & 2nd I needed to still find time to be grandma every week. I trust this woman to bring back the Conservative Party to be trusted too
Keir Starmer 7/7/2022:
“He [Boris]needs to go. He can’t cling on. His own party have now decided that he’s unfit to be prime minister. They can’t now inflict him on the country for the next few months”
He called for a GE.
Starmer’s own standards suggests that he should resign.
Keir Starmer’s speech was sad to watch. With so many resets, even his reset button needs a reset.
But I do not take pleasure in watching the Prime Minister flounder. The country needs leadership, not another speech from a man who clearly knows something has gone badly wrong, but still can't explain why.
This is Labour’s real problem. It is not just Starmer - all the pretenders jostling for his job do not have the answers either, because they all believe the same things: more welfare, more state control, more borrowing, more regulation. They are busy arguing over who should drive the car, but the truth is they are all heading in the wrong direction. They have no vision for the future.
What we need is to get Britain working again. That is why I have proposed an alternative King’s Speech with a a clear plan to reward effort, cut the cost of government, secure our borders, rebuild industry and back families who do the right thing.
If Labour are serious about fixing the country they could do all of this tomorrow. Whether they have the bravery or the common sense to do that is a different matter.
