“Social distancing” is a prudent way to avoid the spread of a virus, but “social isolation” indoors is a recipe for depression and anxiety, and the best antidote can be a walk in the woods on a Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail.
So I went for a bit of a hike today. Another weekend, another waterfall. Prydden Falls in the Paugussett State Forest in Newtown. Nice hike to a great falls. Alot of people out there today, fortunately 95% wearing masks and/or keeping distance when walking the trail
The Mattatuck Trail, has always been a favorite of mine, probably because it is basically in my backyard, with great vistas and one of Connecticut's best waterfalls, Buttermilk Falls, is on the trail! This is a view of the upper portion of the falls.
@dayhikingtrails What made it much more appetizing for my kids, was incorporating GeoCaching into the hike, just something bout an old fashioned Treasure Hunt, really made them excited about spending time in the woods with Dad lol
In Connecticut, there is a network of hiking trails commonly referred to as the Blue Trails, one of them is The Mattatuck Trail, running from Wolcott all the way out to Cornwall. This beautiful spot is crossing the West Branch of the Shepaug River in the Cornwall area
Burr Falls in Burrville CT is one of Connecticut's best Waterfalls (IMHO) offers a bunch of picturesque cascades and moss covered rocks and boulders. This is just one spot above the main cascades, so much more to it! Also the site of the first condensed milk factory!
@LorieKonish just read your story, I am eligible, but when I put in my direct deposit info, it then tells me it doesnt match up with their info and to try again, get locked out for 24 hours.... Its fustrating
