We are sad to share we have said goodbye to a much-loved member of the NFRSA family.
RPD Eddie from @PSOSDogs and @PoliceScotland has left for his next adventure - but WHAT a storyโฆ
Some dogs leave pawprints.
Eddie left absolute & wonderful chaos.
Watch the video till the end, & youโll see just what a legend he was.
Known locally as โEd the Nedโ, Eddie was a proper spaniel in every sense of the word โ wild, fearless, endlessly curious, & just a little bit bonkers.
Arriving to his handler Davie at just one year old, Eddie quickly qualified as a specialist drugs & firearms detection dog, & he threw himself into the job with his trademark enthusiasm. In fact, only a few months after licensing, he became something of a celebrity when he starred alongside his handler in the television series Dog Detectives, aired on @Discovery and @QuestTV.
One memorable episode captured Eddie searching a property before deciding he was thirstyโฆ and helping himself to the water in a suspectโs bong. Not exactly his finest professional moment, but an epic blooper!
Despite the occasional lapse in judgement, Eddie was an exceptional detection police dog. He located drugs with a street value of more than ยฃ400,000 in a single find and helped recover numerous live firearms during his long career.
The truth is, Eddie never really switched off. Whether on duty or off, he was always searching, always sniffing, & always convinced there was something interesting just around the corner.
At home, he was equally devoted. He needed to know what everyone was doing, had to investigate absolutely everything, & became Erinโs loyal shadow.
Retirement was sadly far too short, but it was filled with love, adventure, & the people who adored him, before he crossed Rainbow Bridge in May.
It was a privilege to support Eddie with his final bill, just like we did for his big brother RPD Rudi when he passed away in 2024.
Run free now, Eddie - you are both together again, & we love the thought of your happy reunion.
Your duty is done - thank you for everything.

Absolutely devastated to share the news of my boy. Unfortunately got such short time in retirement before he was taken. He will be running around up there chasing birds with Rudi. Rest in Peace๐พ๐ฏ๏ธ
We are saddened to hear about the passing of RPD Eddie yesterday.
Eddie served with Police Scotland from March 2017-Oct 25.
Eddie passed with his handler & family by his side.
It was a pleasure to serve alongside the little legend. Run free Eddie, Rudi is waiting on you. ๐๐พ๐

Awesome day to get out on the bike to support the Beatson Cancer charity for #beatsonbikers2025 ride up to Balloch. Lots of money raised for this amazing charity
From the dream I had in 2016, to the launch in 2022, I could not be prouder to share this with you all.
My undying gratitude to the trustees, the management committee, the volunteers and to everyone who has been a part of this journey.
To all those who have donated, fundraised, given corporate support and grants, and to the ones who remembered us in their wills, thank you.
Together, we have created something incredible, and meaningful, making a difference to the lives of those who protect us.
It is truly humbling and the gratitude we all feel is unending. ๐
Update on RPD Mac.
We've just got off the phone to Mac's dad.
Mac had a good night, his tall is wagging & his family are going to collect him this evening! We know they'll all be so happy to be back together again.
Please continue to share our appeal & donate if you can
We've just heard from Mac's handler that unfortunately he has lost his eye. Please spare the price of your coffee today and donate towards his surgery. Thank you to @The_NFRSA for helping Mac ๐
Wee TPD Goose wanted to go and pay his respects at the @K9Scottish memorial.
