I was shocked as well. Flight credits that expire when you can’t fly but saying our kids can fly. It was a family trip and they are minors.
I think having a stroke with medical documentation is a legit reason for a refund but that’s just me
. @AmericanAir is there anyone that can please help me with a refund? I had a brain bleed in March, was not cleared to fly and was told when we called we would get a refund. After 2 months of back and forth emails through [email protected] I just got a note saying my documentation is not sufficient and decision is final. What happened to the days of being able to talk to someone? I’ve been exec plat and platinum pro for a decade almost. So shocked at this and I’ll be trying my credit card insurance but some flexibility for a trip credit or something would have at least been helpful.
Over 600k miles flown and I’m sad to have to consider switching airline because of one time I asked for an exception.
Thanks to the @oasishealthapp I’ve switched from poisonous FairLife Protein Milk to Bourbon and I can’t even begin to explain how much healthier I feel.
Passengers flying from Oman just posted their experience... they got to the airport 4 hours early but hit long queues everywhere (check-in, baggage, security). They nearly missed boarding and only got through because staff let them cut the line with 15 minutes to spare. Their advice: arrive 4.5–5 hours early right now.
With the limited re‑opening of airspace, Emirates is operating a reduced flight schedule until further notice. Visit https://t.co/K4Fcp37GYR for more information.
These flights are open for booking and we are accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority.
Customers transiting in Dubai will only be accepted for travel if their connecting flight is operating. Please do not go to the airport unless you hold a confirmed booking for these flights.
Emirates continues to monitor the situation, and we will develop our operational schedule accordingly.
The latest flight updates will be published on our website.
Customers are advised to check https://t.co/bXQ1Uh0AEM, review the latest operational updates on https://t.co/1ESVEkKamu, and check their email for any notifications about changes or cancellations to their flights before travelling to the airport.
We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and patience.
The safety and security of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority.
I am a proud US citizen and founder of a successful startup that employs 94 employees in the US and 180+ employees globally. I was in Dubai on a business trip meeting with financial institutions to help them fight financial fraud in the region, but now I am stranded.
I expected the @usgov to do something to get US citizens out but I haven't seen any meaningful action.
After 4 days of adrenalin and constant fear, I feel demoralised and abandoned by our government. It’s difficult watching other countries – UK, Israel, Spain, Italy and India – repatriate their citizens or ensure that commercial flights continue operating to bring them home.
I became a naturalized US citizen because I believe in the American dream, and the idea that in a crisis, America never leaves its citizens behind. I see that American dream being shattered not just for me, but for tens of thousands of other Americans left stranded.
I have 3 requests of our government:
1. Can the @usgov ensure the commercial airlines don't cancel US bound flights? I've booked a dozen flights to leave Dubai and ALL of them got canceled, even as flights to other countries continue operating.
2. If that is not possible, can the USG organize planes, commercial or military, to evacuate Americans out of Dubai and the surrounding region?
I saw a very hopeful note from the Assistant Secretary of State for Global Public Affairs which states, “the US State Dept is in touch with 3,000 Americans and that we should call 1-202-501-4444 for assistance with departure options.”
But that is unfortunately not accurate. I am enrolled in Step and have only received generic messages. Further, on calling that number, the message you get is:
"Please don't rely on the USG for assisted departure or evacuation at this point. There are currently no evacuation flights at this time."
3. With funding cuts to the US consulates and with attacks on US embassies in the region, there’s no one that Americans can reach out to in the broader GCC region.
Can we set up an emergency hotline within the US that actually works, and that has someone who is taking down more details?
@SecRubio just stated that there are 1500 Americans who have contacted asking for assistance to evacuate. How did they do that because I am completely at a loss on who to call? I called up 1-202-501-4444 and all I got is a generic message.
Myself and other Americans need help getting back home.
Man. The ONE great thing about having a US passport was that if anything happened to you, it would be an international incident that a US citizen was even mildly inconvenienced, and the government would, like, send a team of Navy SEALs to save you. No one gets a US passport to fend for themselves when they travel.
Now we don't even have that, because Trump is a neglectful person who lets everything fall to ruin. A neglectful father, a neglectful husband, a neglectful leader. Everything and everyone around him struggles to survive and falls to rot.
While the British government is sending planes to rescue their citizens, U.S is saying U.S. citizens should immediately leave the 12 MidEast countries... “using available commercial travel”
Uh, WHAT available commercial travel?
So many canceled flights...
Called the State Department emergency number because the advisory said “depart via commercial means” and to call if you need assistance arranging departure.
Airspace is shut. Airports aren’t functioning. Airlines can’t be reached.
After 30 minutes on the line, they read back the same security update posted online.
I understand protocols. I understand thresholds for evacuation.
But telling Americans to “depart now” when there are no commercial options and offering no practical pathway is frustrating to say the least:
American government. Stay in shelter but if you can leave on a commercial plane ..leave. Yea can you sort out the getting on a plane with airports shut down part?? No support from the State Department
