The Data Center Local Frictions Report – December 2025 provides comprehensive intelligence on community and regulatory resistance facing data center development across the United States. This monthly analysis examines news articles to identify locality specific conflicts, revealing that nearly half of all data center coverage involves local opposition.
The report breaks down resistance by conflict type and identifies geographic hotspots where development faces the strongest headwinds.
This is essential reading for infrastructure planners, data center developers, infrastructure investors, utility planners, and policy makers navigating the complex landscape of AI-driven data center growth and its local impacts.

Model routing is an important thing
Controversial idea: the frontier labs will want their AI harness to be the moat, but ultimately the best case for consumers is that model capabilities flatten and commodify
Preview of the AI Harness Wars of 2027
We are in a golden age where, if you are good at systems and understanding, AI increases your abilities by an order of magnitude. But if you are not good at it, you just spin your wheels and end up nowhere helpful
The feeling when it works. Local Satchel automatically detects how much VRAM your NVIDIA GPU has, selects a Nemotron model that will fit, then starts it. You can even use a command to configure hermes agent to use it, so when you start hermes you're running local. No subscription/API key required.
The next evolution of Hermes Agent is here!
Introducing Hermes Desktop: everything you love about Hermes, now native on your machine.
