Third pic - A can of tomato lemonade I tried because I was curious. Oddly tasty. Would recommend.

I'm alive! And I'm on my way back to Tokyo to finish out the trip. Surely not because I ran out of room for souvenirs in the suitcase I've been travelling with. Surely. Surely... *cough*

My time here in Osaka has had me spend way too much money on wonderful food from people in some of the nicest restaurants on down to the most hole in the wall Izakaya. And the aforementioned souvenirs... especially since the huge arcade/entertainment group @Round1_official did an official merch collab with my absolute favorite artist, @ado1024imokenp. It turns out that I am horrendously bad at UFO catcher crane games because I embarrassingly spent $250 getting every single piece of merch from it. Worth.

As I said yesterday, I'll be doing an image dump of some of the things I've seen, eaten, and bought.

The next day I took a nice day trip out to Nara so I could hang out with some deer and check out a temple I've been wanting to see—Kohfukuji.

The deer were super cool to be able to get up close to and occasionally they would give you a quick bow greeting that they picked up on. They were expecting rice crackers, but little did they know, I'm very dumb and couldn't figure out where to get them. Most deer swiftly gave up on me. I was able to see the majesty of a couple deer bucking each other over a mate and the less majestic deer that peed all over itself while scraping its face against a tree. Duality of nature, I suppose.

Afterwards I headed to Kohfukuji and paid about $15 to go inside each of the three main shrines. Photographs are not allowed inside so only pictures of the buildings themselves were captured. I will say up front that the price of admission was completely worth it for the treasure room in the front shrine. It was filled with wooden and bronze cast statutes, bowls, coins, and scrolls from around the year 800. Statues of the 12 divine generals and a thousand-armed kannon. Magnificent.

Apologies on the lightness of content the past few days. Between the charging cable issue, moving cities and moving hotels mid-stay, it's been hectic to do this while also enjoying the trip itself. I think that tomorrow I will do a big catch-up post that just has pictures of various places and foods and sights sans Hinako commentary to get a little bit back on track.

Damn, I had a really long post almost ready to go and some weird forced refresh happened when I opened my laptop back up. I am sad.

I'm in Osaka now enjoying the lights and delicacies of Dotonbori, Osaka's nightlife area. It's a beautiful city known at 'Japan's Kitchen' because it used to be an ingredient trading hub for the region. Now, it's more because of how many Michelin Star restaurants they have. 38 starred restaurants with a combined 48 Michelin Stars between them.

Outside of the expensive and the lavish, their claim to fame is three wonderful dishes; Osaka-style okonomiyaki, kushikastu, and takoyaki. I'll let our wonderful guide Hinako talk a bit more about them, but I'll say up front that I hate takoyaki. I like squid, but I do not like octopus. for some reason.

Today's post will be a little light on diversity of locational content. I spent the vast majority of my day at teamLab Biovortex Kyoto @teamlabkyoto - https://t.co/JNz0KqTfV2. I've been to @teamLabPlanets in Toyosu, Tokyo twice, but this was my first time at the Kyoto exhibition.

I'm not one that's super gung-ho about art shows or museums, I enjoy them, but they're not 'must-see' for me. That said, I will never skip an exhibition put on by the people at @teamLab_net. It's a sumptuous, full-body experience that makes you see beauty in the natural world through the use of scent, sight, touch, and sound via state-of-the-art systems.

Each exhibit is breathtaking in the care and work they put into them to be accessible to adults and children alike. I know it sounds like I'm gushing, and I am, but to miss out on this sensory masterpiece is borderline criminal. If you only have a day in Tokyo or Kyoto, please check them out. They deserve every patron.

I will not have an accompanying text with our guide Hinako. I wouldn't insult the folks at teamLab with AI hallucinations concerning their exhibits. Though Kimi-K2 does seem to have quite a decent knowledge of the Tokyo exhibit.

Sup nerds, it's ya boi, Gary Oak. Felt much much. Before I did ANYTHING I decided I was going to head to the Lawson, grab some light food to put on my stomach, hang out in the hotel room, and find out how things went.

Grabbed myself some karaage, a famed egg salad sando, and a tuna mayo onigiri. You know... light food. I hadn't really eaten in 40 hours at this point so I scarfed it all down like a dying junkyard raccoon. Two hour later, I was fine so that meant I could do things today.

So lets go to the Kyoto Aquarium! Right outside of the aquarium is this super cute tourist information booth that's built inside of an old cable car. Attached is also a scale model of the aquarium that was pretty neat.

I'm running low on time now so I'll end with food and my trip to the Pokemon Center Kyoto.

I went to a place they had all you can eat red king crab for $110. Being from a costal area, I needed that in my life immediately. I thought I had had king crab in the past but I must have been mistaken (or lied to). I've never seen anything like this before in my life. This was lobster levels of meat but it tasted sweet like crab. They gave me a literal bowl of melted butter and I enhanced the flavor by pouring some dashi in. It was pure heaven. For dessert, strawberry mochi with matcha ice cream and Okinawan black sugar syrup. Divine. (forgot to take a picture of the dessert before I demolished it. Pic from the restaurant on Google)
