Finding human potential through the art of archery. Building critical thinkers & future leaders through self-awareness, mindset, strategy & character building.
When an archer is temporarily out of the game, visualization of the shot process, in real time, and with realistic ambience and environment in mind, can help keep the neural pathways associated with the shot active.
Mentally shoot the arrow.
Feel the stance.
Feel the bow in your hand.
Set…
Up…
Face…
Brace…
Aaaaand, Follow Through.
Picture the arrow hitting the X.
Visualization won’t prevent muscular atrophy, but it can help maintain the motor patterns you’ve spent thousands of arrows building.
When the body has to rest, the brain can still practice. 🏹🧠
-picture yourself achieving your goal
-see the moment it happens
-hear congratulations from someone you love
-replay until you feel it
-fall asleep as the person whose done this
-wake up knowing how to achieve it
We’re a multiscale information-processing system operating simultaneously through chemical, electrical, mechanical, and electromagnetic processes, all ultimately sitting on quantum physics.
Think about that next time you loose an arrow. 🎯🏹🤯
@ArcheryTrade_ In a butterfly-effect way, it’s because of 9/11 that X10 Archery Academy exists.
While many lives were tragically lost that day, a chain of events brought me to Houston, where today we’re able to pour into young lives through the art of archery.
Life takes extraordinary paths.
In JGAP, we teach that awareness comes before reflection and adjustment.
Before changing anything, notice what your body is telling you.
Fascinating new research suggests that attention to internal bodily signals doesn’t just change what we perceive. It may actually influence how the body regulates itself.
That’s why our current JGAP curriculum starts with S.E.O.: Self-Awareness, Energy, & Oxygen.
Archery gives us an incredibe laboratory for learning how to listen. 🏹🧠

@SportPsychTips Non-linear pedagogy. Discovery. Curiosity.
Give athletes ownership of the learning process and we foster intrinsic motivation, rather than simply motivating them.
Interestingly, it develops more aware coaches, too.

When we talk about watering the roots, what are you watering them with?
Outcomes reflect the process.
The process reflects the quality of training.
Repetition reinforces whatever you practice, good or bad.
Feed the roots wisely.
Archery is about far more than where the arrow lands.
In our Junior Guided Archery Program, we’re exploring S.E.O.:
Self-Awareness.
Energy.
Oxygen.
Learning to notice what’s happening in the body and mind before, during, and after the shot.
How does attention affect execution?
What happens when energy drops?
How does breathing change perception, tension and decision-making?
The target gives us feedback, but the real skill is learning how to hone our own mechanisms behind the shot.
That’s where archery becomes a tool for something bigger: Archery. Builds. Character. 🎯
Remember first that everything you think, say, and do is a reflection of what you've decided about yourself; a statement of Who You Are; an act of creation in your deciding who you want to be.
One bitter player can drain a locker room.
One grateful player can shift the whole culture.
Negativity won’t fix itself; leaders have to:
- Call it out
- Replace it with belief
- Model the energy they want
Better > Bitter. Always.
We’re training a generation to fear failure.
Not because they’re soft or lazy, because everything they do is on display.
Every test score, every game, every rejection lives forever online.
When life becomes performative, failure feels like a public referendum on your worth.
When trying something new, whether that’s archery, drawing, or playing the violin… instead of thinking:
“I’m bad at this”
Adopt the mindset of:
“This is new to me”
And enjoy the experience!
Kid synergy is something else. We start our time in the classroom, discussing internal cues and broad thinking.
Tonight, after a show & tell from one of our Houston Rodeo winners, we discussed intrinsic motivation.
They get it. And they apply it.
Our next generation. 😍
Four golds and a silver for our X10 archers at the Houston Rodeo archery tournament this weekend!
$3,000 in prizes to these lads and lasses. Pics to come.
Congratulations archers!
