Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews has announced his retirement from the NHL.
Hall of Fame career officially comes to an end. #Blackhawks
On this app, it seems that fans of rival fanbases don’t ever like to appreciate greatness of the opposite team! I’m a religious Anaheim Ducks fan and it was a pleasure watching Jonathan Toews! One of the greatest leaders and most clutch players of all time!! Him and the Chicago Blackhawks broke my heart year after year! One of the most underrated super stars in sports history! Congrats on an unbelievable career truly was a pleasure sir
"We were kind of the odd couple. Going through the journey [with him] took the pressure off me. I get to look back and be thankful I got to play with a player like him."
- Jonathan Toews on Patrick Kane
Jonathan Toews coming back from two years away from hockey and playing a full 82 games for the Jets, even if not as his former quality, was extremely impressive. I did not think it was possible and he proved me wrong.
I hope he enters retirement feeling satisfied he gave all he could give. I’m excited to see what comes next in his life.
Standing in front of a Winnipeg Jets microphone in Winnipeg, Jonathan Toews has unsurprisingly spent the first six minutes and counting talking about Chicago and rattling off his old Blackhawks teammates names.
The first jersey I ever owned.
I remember doing an “about me” project in sixth grade, and there was a section where we had to write about our hero’s… 12 year old me took the opportunity to gush about Jonathan Toews.
He was a great role model and one hell of a hockey player.
If you didn’t know Jonathan Toews has more championships in the 21st century combined than the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Notre Dame put together! It’s 3 to 2 and that’s not even counting gold medals! One of the greatest athletes in Chicago Sports history
Jonathan Toews recorded 29 points during the @NHLBlackhawks' 2010 #StanleyCup run and matched the single-postseason franchise record set by Denis Savard (29 in 1985).
