I met this guy this morning. The owner of the campground has a guard turtle. That helps secure the main office. It also doubles as a pet pretty cool watching him just run around. Which is why the red paint on the edge of his shell. Sometimes he tries to cross the road.

Can’t forget this guy from a week and a half ago. By far the coolest critter I’ve encountered so far. The scorpions and tarantulas are pretty awesome as well. But there are no diamond back.

Here you have a beautiful combination of Joshua trees, and the Grand Wash Cliffs. I went for a pre-sunset ride once it cooled off. To go explore some of the surrounding area. I’m only a mile from the Joshua Tree National Forest and on a cooler day will explore trails there.

These are just a few of the desert dwellers that I have encountered in the last few days. Lot of people think the desert is devout of life. But I’m here to tell you there’s an abundance of life out here. It’s just better at hiding.

Most people take things like a working sewage, running water and air-conditioning for granted. Just basic amenities, right. But I finally after a year have completed all three of those systems and they are functional. Making me far less reliant on being on grid. Which was the goal from the beginning. Every step is one step closer to being completely self-sufficient. At least a few weeks at a time. By the end of the summer, I hope to have a solar system installed as well. But we will get there.

The AC has been functional since last fall. I just finally got around to testing it.

Damn, this RV is so photogenic. It’s hard to not get good photos of. I suppose if I parked it in really bad environment, it might not look as cool. But luckily, I always find myself in beautiful places. Even if it means cleaning them up a bit.

I snapped a few more iconic shots of ADAONE last night. It was pitch dark out, but the moon was so bright. I just couldn’t resist. Very happy with the way he shots came out. Timing and lighting were perfect for the feel I was going for.

These are the seed pods of a mature Joshua Tree. Technically called indehiscent capsules. But often referred to as seed pods or even baby bananas. Although they’re edible, they’re protected legally. And are the primary food source for many different desert creatures.

All three of these shots of the moon were taken within about a 45 minute window of time. It’s amazing how much different it looks from one shot to the next. These were taking at about 275 times magnification, man the moon is so hard to photograph and get a clean shot of.
