BBC NEWS - NO EBOLA IN UGANDA
If there was Ebola in Uganda, Ugandans ourselves would say it.
Some guys would do tik tok stories out of it. We don’t know how to hide information.
PLEASE STOP INVOLVING UGANDA
Joining the rest of well-meaning Ugandans to demand for the urgent release of Counsel Erias Lukwago, whom we understand was today rushed from jail to Mulago Hospital in very critical condition. We owe ourselves a country where no amount of political disagreement is greater than citizens' right to life and human dignity; a country where no citizen is subjected to sham judicial processes just because they oppose those in power! #FreeEriasLukwago #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners
@DavidLRubongoya The Judicial officers regardless they’re educated, take orders from the Chief Muchwezi. This is how much we have deteriorated as a country. Before court judgements are made, they’re first sent to CDF for proofreading and editing. This is insane!!!!!
At any Ugandan university, law students are routinely confronted with this examination question:
"Discuss the view that the silence, inaction, or complicity of lawyers and judges between 1971 and 1979 played a fundamental role in sustaining President Idi Amin's atrocious regime for eight years."
Isn't it deeply unsettling that in a few years, a nearly identical question may well be asked about the current generation of judicial officers, lawyers and other professionals? 🤔
To see that Dr. Kizza Besigye and Hon. Lukwago have made impassioned pleas for bail on medical grounds for several months, and yet remain trapped in jail as their health deteriorates is beyond comprehension!
A former Rwandan army sergeant major Robert Kabera, who became an outspoken critic of President Paul Kagame, has been found beheaded in neighbouring Uganda.

A Rwandan influencer Dusenge Clenia two weeks ago posted and appealed to Uganda’s CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba to help terminate Sgt Maj. Robert Kabera accusing him of criticising her govt. Kabera was beheaded on Saturday and his killers took his head to probably confirm the job well done.

@wekesa_amos But it's because you have been fighting to fully exploit Uganda's potential... and possibly he would do the same he knew how much potential Uganda has.. I can relate
Three months since he collapsed, I finally had the opportunity to see and meet my leader, @kizzabesigye1! Before meeting him, I had imagined so many things about his appearance and current condition. It broke my heart to see that he is now being taught how to walk and talk again. A speech therapist was using a word chart with simple words like "dog" and "boy," which KB is supposed to try his hardest to pronounce, though he hasn’t succeeded yet.
KB uses an alphabetical letter chart where he taps out letters for you to write down and piece together what he is saying. Sensing that I was shocked about his current state, he pointed that “it could have been worse.”
We both would laugh when he would check my notes and realize I had written something completely different from what he was spelling out! 🙈🙈 I tried to defend myself by saying that’s what he had tapped, and we would laugh again. When I ran out of excuses for my mistakes, I reminded him that my eyes aren't fully functional, which is why I wear glasses. 🙈
KB is now also an expert of sign language, when he gets tired of using the chat, he uses signs 😳
He hears very well, but he not able to talk yet. I commended his sharp brain of being able to communicate by tapping letters of alphabet.
He doesn’t remember exactly what happened at court, he remembers waking up days later while in the ICU at Mulago.
As we conversed, I was drinking water, When I offered him a bottle as well, I was reminded that he cannot hold a bottle of water on his own. His hands aren’t firm, they are shaky and lack strength.
He stated that we are back in the 1890s but encouraged us to hang in there. He said that under the current regime, just staying alive is an achievement.
Salongo @EriasLukwago is his neighbor in the same facility, but they have never met. I informed him how Lukwago was taken to Mulago.
Seeing KB in state he is was incredibly painful, but his enduring spirit and sharp mind remind me why he is the leader he is. Please keep KB in your thoughts and prayers as he walks this long, difficult road to recovery. His resilience gives me hope that we will get through this dark chapter. Long live KB🙏🏻

LET’S PRAY
Dear God, thank You for Your unfailing love and care. We pray that the power of Your Word will set us free from life’s challenges. Break every chain that holds us back, lift every burden that weighs us down, and lead us into the freedom that comes from trusting in You. Your Word declares that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. May we walk in that freedom, knowing that no challenge is greater than Your power and no situation is beyond Your ability to change. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
It’s the worst struggle first of all but I managed to keep a person to help out at home for 5 years and that’s a stretch by Ugandan standards by doing the following
1. Treat them like family (Subtly give benefits like clothing, birthday celebrations, movie tickets, medical and gifts on Xmas e.t.c over and above their earnings )
2. Let them provide input because they collect the most data in your absence and take it into consideration.
3. Plan for the time they outgrow you as a phase in their lives just like teenagers outgrow us.
4. Ensure they follow family rules like every one and don’t cut corners with no one.
5. Important: pay them on time and give them financial literacy lessons that are likely to help them outgrow you but that’s ok because of point 3.
Working in a Kampala pharmacy will humble you. 😭
This girl has come for the third time in the same month(October) to buy emergency pills. The first time she could not even look at me. The second time she said the other one did not work. I told her these things are not Groundnuts, and she should at least see her period before she starts again.
Today she is back. Same sunglasses. She put the money on the counter and said, “Aunty, don’t start. This one is a different person.”
Banange, before I could talk, a boy walked in behind her and said, “Babe, did you get them? The boda man is charging us waiting.” 💀
She looked at me like I had called her mother.
Three times. One month. The period has not even come. 😭😭

@GeofreyMutumba2
If a white man treated a black man like the Ugandan Junta is treating Lukwago, our elites would line up one by one to call out the "racism" - as they should. Andrew Mwenda would write about American hypocrisy in no less than five missives - even when his words wouldn't make a difference. Yet now, when their words can make a difference, they won't utter a thing!
