Asked Alex Eala about what it means to be able to share parts of Filipino culture with the rest of the world
"I am kind of just like a drop in the ocean, you know, when it comes to Filipinos and their pride for their culture and where they come from.
"Me, I do a lot to kind of represent my country, and I'm very proud of it. But you see, I mean, the stadium was full of people who do the same thing, right? I guess that just shows you what kind of a community we are, and what kind of a people we are, and how supportive we are of each other."
Just saw the news, Alex Eala is the newest Marriott Bonvoy ambassador!
So proud of her. She’s been grinding on the court, making history for the Philippines, and now partnering with a global brand like this feels like a perfect next step. Well deserved, Alex. Keep shining. 🇵🇭
The Changeover Kitchen is one of the food vendors at @NBOtoronto.
Tonight, it changed the menu from chicken teriyaki rice bowl to Filipino chicken adobo.
All because of 🇵🇭Alexandra Eala playing tonight.

The tournament sold chicken adobo on-site JUST for Alex 😭

READ: The graduating Class of 2026 will march in the Blue Eagle Gym with a call for accountability and humanity during their commencement ceremonies on June 19–21, following the deaths of Chukwuemeka Divine Adili and Rene Clert Baterbonia, according to a statement released by the Ateneo Seniors’ Alliance (ASA) today, June 14.
In the statement, the graduating students said that the University's principles have compelled them to question its decisions and handling of the incident, stressing that their graduation is a reminder to uphold “the principles of care, love, and being men and women for others.”
Joining calls from students, alumni, and faculty, the graduating batch also stand with the families of Adili and Baterbonia in urging the Ateneo administration to provide answers and support for those affected.
ASA finally called on the administration to conduct a full and independent investigation, personally face the bereaved families, provide sustained support, and reform policies on student-athlete welfare and safety.
“As Ateneans, we have walked out against corruption; walked out to celebrate democracy. [...] We stood with those calling for justice, [...] fought for good governance, and held the line for accountability when the nation’s institutions trembled amidst allegations of corruption. This time, we stand for two of our own,” the statement read.
As of 9:40 PM, 134 seniors, including ASA organizers and course representatives, signed the statement.

It’s so disappointing that even in times like this, it’s women who show up in a supposedly male-dominated field of sports. Wdym mas may tapang pa sina Gretchen Ho, Dona de Leon, at Amie Provido, who isnt even from Ateneo to call for accountability and humanity than the men?
