Effect of the cultural subalternization of Bengal polity where once bhadraloks like BC Roy and SS Ray reigned supreme, is the denial of eggs in school mid-day meals
If Lord Krishna was against eating meat, eggs, fish etc he would have prevented people in Mahabharata from doing so.
no evidence he stopped people from eating meat at all.
Whatever is your personal choice is fine, please don't confine religion to narrow interpretations.
Agree. The point behind midday meals is to give children from less privileged backgrounds a balanced & nutritious meal at school, one they perhaps cannot afford at home. “Please eat them at home” is literally the most entitled & unempathetic thing to say, coming from a certain place of privilege.
I don't usually do shout-outs.
But Santosh Bhai is one of the wisest, knowledgable, most sensible and decent men I know on Twitter.
Sure, I can only speak from what I know of him based on Twitter, and I can't even claim we are very good friends.
But sometimes, you just know.
So the Indian state has money to aerially bomb its own villages in the name of CT, to relocate the wildlife of MH into Vantara to empty forest land, and to lease forest land for Re 1 to billionaires but shouldn't spend more than Rs 6.77 per child to feed them nutritious food?
Perhaps the biggest advantage of eggs is that they are easy to count. Daal, paneer and soya can be watered down. (And pray that the paneer isn’t made out of palm oil in the first place).
Someone please file a PIL against this scam. One cannot give such a huge contract without competing tenders. Also children cannot be deprived of eggs and fish as they are primary protein sources for Bengalis & part of their culture.
indian state has designed its entire education system with a single point agenda of sucking out the joy of life and crushing hopes of the young in order to mass produce loveless and unempathetic adults who could then be turned into subservient custodians of existing social order.
