Most people don’t know how to argue properly. Instead of disputing ideas, they attack people.

Instead of challenging what’s said, they go after the person who said it. They treat disagreement like a personal insult rather than a clash of thoughts. It’s immature, counterproductive, and frankly, a big reason why so much communication breaks down; online and in real life.

You can always tell who’s grown up: they argue the idea, not the person. They don’t get emotional about disagreement because they know it’s not about them.

It sounds like common sense, but sadly, it’s rare. And that’s why most arguments go nowhere.
