Bridget Phillipson has not been upfront with schools. Beyond the spin & buried in the small print is the reality that schools will have to make further cuts to fund more than half of teachers’ pay rises themselves.

After delaying the announcement on teachers’ pay, Labour failed to give schools a clear picture of what they need to budget for. It’s a terrible way to treat schools & it’s little wonder so many teachers have lost confidence in the Education Secretary.
