In Snezhnaya, the land of frost and ice, it often takes quite a bit of persuasion to get someone to go to the opera house or theater. On bitterly cold days, most would rather stay by the hearth than traipse across the snow just to catch a performance.
Many, however, make an exception for Odette's ballet performances.
Whenever her name appears on a show publicity poster, the lines start forming at the ticket window. Those standing patiently in line are not there because of her sweet smile, for she almost never smiles at the audience. Nor are they drawn by any warmth in her manner — once the curtain falls, she does not remain onstage for even a second longer. Instead, they have come for the dance performance itself. The instant Odette rises to the tips of her toes, even Snezhnaya's howling winds seem to fall still. Every step she takes is so precise, it takes the breath away from everyone in the theater. To her fans, that cold demeanor of hers only makes her more alluring.
This young lady who has captivated so many onstage is also a member of the Fatui.
Her days are divided between the troupe and the Fatui. Her dance practices begin in the early morning, while her training with the Fatui usually stretches late into the night. Her own practices and urgent missions fill whatever time that remains. In the practice room, she stretches to her limits before rising into dance. At the training grounds, she swiftly moves on to her next task after bringing down her opponents. Day after day, she continues like the dancer of a music box, turning without end, as though she never tires, as though she never needs rest.
A friend once asked her, "Don't you ever get tired, going back and forth like that between ballet performances and the Fatui?"
Odette cocked her head in response, seemingly in thought. Then she gave her answer, one that could not be any plainer: "But I'm already used to it."

En Snezhnaya, lograr que la gente de las tierras heladas acuda por voluntad propia a un teatro no es tarea fácil. En los días de viento gélido, las personas prefieren acurrucarse junto a la chimenea antes que caminar por la nieve para ver una función.
Sin embargo, la mayoría hace una excepción cuando se trata de ver los espectáculos de ballet de Odette.
Cada vez que su nombre aparece en los carteles del teatro, una larga fila se forma frente a las taquillas. Los que esperan pacientemente no lo hacen por su dulce sonrisa, pues casi nunca sonríe al público; tampoco los atrae su calidez, ya que una vez que se cierra el telón, nunca permanece sobre el escenario ni un segundo más de lo debido. No. Si esperan, es por ver el espectáculo de danza en sí. En cuanto Odette se pone de puntillas, incluso los mismísimos vientos aullantes de Snezhnaya parecen acallarse. Cada paso que da brilla por su precisión y hace que todos contengan el aliento en el teatro. Para sus seguidores, su característica frialdad solo la hace parecer más carismática.
Esta joven, que a tantos cautiva sobre el escenario, también resulta ser miembro de los Fatui.
Sus días están divididos entre la compañía de teatro y dicha organización. Sus prácticas de danza comienzan temprano en la mañana, mientras que su entrenamiento con los Fatui suele extenderse hasta las intempestivas horas de la madrugada. Su propia práctica y demás misiones urgentes colman el poco tiempo que le queda. En la sala de baile, se estira al máximo antes de comenzar su danza. En el campo de entrenamiento, se dispone a emprender rápidamente su próxima tarea tras derrotar a sus adversarios. Día tras día, Odette continúa así, como la bailarina de una caja de música, siempre girando, como si no pudiera agotarse ni existiera el concepto del descanso.
Cierta amistad le preguntó una vez con curiosidad: "¿No te cansas de ir y venir entre las funciones de ballet y los Fatui?".
Al oír esto, Odette ladeó la cabeza y reflexionó durante un breve momento. Después, le dio su respuesta, la cual no podría haber sido más simple: "Ya estoy acostumbrada".
