Dear family, friends, and beautiful souls I haven’t met yet,
I’m reaching out again with a hopeful heart and a good dose of humility. Every few months I refresh this message because I’m still in the fight of my life-and I’m not giving up.
I was born with Polycystic Kidney Disease, and despite battling it with everything I have, I’ve now reached end-stage renal failure. I’m on the kidney transplant list at the Cleveland Clinic and actively enrolled in their paired exchange (“swap”) program.
A living donor kidney gives the best opportunity for a longer, higher-quality life. And thanks to the swap program, even if you’re not a direct match for me, your generous donation can trigger a chain that ultimately gets me the kidney I need.
I’ve always been the type to handle things on my own, so asking for help like this still feels incredibly humbling. But I’m here hopeful and open.
