Thousands of Iranian Lion and Sun flags were held up by Iranian Pahlavi-supporters during yesterday’s game between Iran and New Zealand in Los Angeles.
The fans had to smuggle in the flags as FIFA had banned them

Pousser un peuple à se soulever, l'abandonner au massacre, puis pactiser avec ses bourreaux : connaît-on escroquerie morale plus achevée dans l'histoire diplomatique ?
What FIFA doesn’t want you to see from the Iran vs New Zealand World Cup match in Los Angeles
Thousands of Iranian fans proudly waved the historical Lion and Sun flag during the match.
FIFA banned these flags, forcing supporters to smuggle them into the stadium, while a massive flag of the Islamic regime was openly displayed.
Demonstrators amassed outside Iran’s first World Cup match, waving the pre-revolutionary lion-and-sun flags banned inside the stadium and calling for change in Tehran. https://t.co/HnivZvjiDb
A Russian opposition activist holding Iran’s pre-revolution Lion and Sun flag joined Iranian fans outside the Los Angeles stadium where Iran will face New Zealand in the FIFA World Cup, telling Iran International she came to support Iranians opposed to the Islamic Republic.
Reza Pahlavi, exiled son of Iran's shah, tells Katy Balls any deal with the regime "will ultimately fail" and is "morally wrong". The regime has the blood of thousands on its hands, he says: why come so close to leave it in place?

This morning, I met with @EmilyThornberry Chair of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee, and other members of the Committee to discuss the situation inside Iran, the Islamic Republic’s repression of the Iranian people, and the urgent need to place the people of Iran at the centre of UK policy.
I made clear that dealing with a regime that murdered more than 40,000 Iranians in January is not only morally wrong, but strategically misguided.
Any agreement that preserves this regime or its remnants will fail. The Iranian people will not accept it.
With or without international support, the people of Iran will overthrow this regime. Freedom will come to Iran.
