The only machine that needs to be stopped is Palestinian/PLO/Hamas corruption.
In the 1970-80 Russian got rich supplying weapons to Italian Brigate Rosse through the Palestinian channel.
1) France / Paris – the Hyperion network: Paris became an important hub for the BR’s international contacts. Hyperion, formally a language school in Paris associated with Corrado Simioni, Vanni Mulinaris and Duccio Berio, was repeatedly investigated as a possible intermediary between Italian terrorists and foreign organisations. According to evidence reviewed by parliamentary commissions, BR member Antonio Savasta stated that contacts with Palestinian arms suppliers were maintained in Paris through a network of militants, and that Mario Moretti personally handled these relationships.
2) Hyperion - Palestinian connection: Italian parliamentary testimony went further. Judge Ferdinando Imposimato told the parliamentary terrorism commission that people associated with the French/Hyperion environment were involved in establishing contacts through which large quantities of weapons could reach the BR, with weapons entering Italy both across the French-Italian frontier around Ventimiglia and through routes originating in Lebanon. This is testimony and investigative reconstruction, however, rather than a judicial finding that Hyperion as an institution was an arms-trafficking organisation.
3) PLO/Palestinian organisations: This is one of the best-documented foreign sources. In summer 1978, Moretti met a PLO representative in Paris. According to the Italian intelligence review later published by Gnosis, the BR wanted weapons, explosives, assistance for fugitives and access to Palestinian training camps. An arrangement subsequently included PLO weapons supplies to the BR.
4) 1978 shipment through France: The first significant Palestinian shipment was reportedly brought into Italy in summer/late 1978 through an Alpine crossing on the French-Italian frontier. It included Kalashnikov rifles, an RPG of Soviet manufacture and a machine gun. One of those Kalashnikovs was subsequently used by the BR in the 1979 attack on the Christian Democratic Party headquarters in Piazza Nicosia.
5) 1979 Lebanon/Cyprus shipment: The most striking documented shipment came the following year. Mario Moretti, Riccardo Dura and other BR members sailed aboard the Papagos/Papago toward Cyprus/Lebanon. Palestinian intermediaries supplied approximately 150 Sterling submachine guns, around ten Belgian FAL rifles and 500–600 kg of plastic explosive. The material was subsequently distributed among BR columns and hidden in caches including the Montello depot near Treviso.
EU sent to Gaza and West Bank €30 billions since 1994.
Ismail Haniyeh died with an estimated net worth of $4 billion. For living, Haniyeh used to plaster walls in Ashkelon. This is the product of corruption.

@MustafaBarghou1 Mustafa, with all due respect, how much it costs this bloody Palestinian State?
I am asking because so far EU sent to Gaza and West Bank €30 billions since 1994 and no Palestinian State!
.@vonderleyen
The 2 state solution is 89 years old.
89 years of failures.
As Europeans, we need to stop asking Israeli why there is not a Palestinian State and start asking this question to EU politicians, almost €30 billion since 1994.
How this money was spent.
I have another number for you, the total amount from US, EU, Arab states, UN: 70 Billions $$$.
Corruption takes two: for every corrupt recipient, there must be someone willing to corrupt them.
Turkey is not only a problem when Erdogan talks about "reconquering" Jerusalem.
Turkey attacked an Italian ship in Feb 2018! Italy’s ENI Saipem 12000 from drilling off Cyprus. The vessel withdrew. Italian Government did not sent the Navy, because it would have been a direct confrontation between 2 NATO members.
21 Feb: the US Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group entered the Sixth Fleet area; it later visited Cyprus.
Nov 2018: US ExxonMobil (partner of ENI) began drilling Block 10.
Turkey protested — but did not stop it
We are seeing the alignment of several interests against Turkey, a country with is in NATO situationally.
One of Gaza’s bravest voices - the man who co-organized the 2019 “We Want to Live” street protests against Hamas’s death culture - just delivered an unflinching demand: Hamas’s ideology must be eradicated the same way Nazism was. Wipe it out completely.
His vision is clear:
Demilitarize Gaza first.
Then deradicalize.
And finally rebuild a people capable of critical thinking and tolerance.
The UAE, as Moumen notes, proves it is possible.
Watch this. Share it.
The next generation of Gazans - and the entire region - depends on it.

How do you contain Turkey with an Erdogan who wants to reconquer Jerusalem and control energy policy in Cyprus?

Who do you call? Spider man? Iron Man? Wonder Woman is from around Cyprus, she is close.

NO to the two-state solution. That ship has sailed.
Not every group that can throw a dramatic tantrum earns the right to govern itself. The Kurds deserve statehood far more than the Palestinians ever have, and they've never tried to drag an entire region into the abyss to get it. If your national cause is built on fallacies, you don't get rewarded with a state just because the extremists among you might scorch the earth otherwise.
No statehood alongside Israel. "Abort mission" is where the Palestinian cause has landed itself.
I've watched the making of the alternative "Palestinian" for two years now, and it's time to say this.
I see Jews cheering Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, celebrating him as a radical pragmatist. He criticizes Hamas, and for that he gets credit. He also criticizes the Israeli government — which pleases so many — and states clearly in his bio that he is "pro-Palestine & anti-Hamas/violence, pro-peace/coexistence." Let's unpack it.
Pro-Palestine? Which Palestine? Unless he means Jordan, he's promoting the same cause the "freedom fighters" are, just taking a different path to reach it.
Anti-Hamas? That's the bare minimum, after what they did to their own people in Gaza.
Anti-violence? Israel won every war. Violence was never the winning strategy especially not in the eyes of a radical pragmatist.
Pro-peace? What does this peace look like? Concessions? An end to the war? Israel laying down its arms? Wishful thinking that the Palestinians won't strike again?
Coexistence? With whom, between whom? Christian and Muslim Arabs, Druze, and Bedouins coexist with Jews, Mizrahi, Ashkenazi, Sephardi alike, inside Israel. Arab Palestinians have failed to coexist with everyone: Jews, Muslims, and Christians alike. They failed in Jordan. Black September. They failed in Lebanon, dragging the country into a civil war that ended with their own expulsion to Tunisia in 1982. They failed in Kuwait, where 200,000 were expelled in 1991 after Arafat backed Saddam's invasion and another 200,000 who'd fled were never allowed back. The Oslo Accords failed to prove them fit to govern themselves. After all the pain they've inflicted across the Middle East for decades, it's time they take a step back and abort the mission.
Someone promoting Palestinian nationhood will always play well on CNN. But why are any Jews supporting this? Why hand this illusion of coexistence another chance to strike again? Why help achieve what Hamas failed to?
What Gazans desperately need isn’t the burden of building a state. It’s a break from striving for one. They need a fresh bed, a warm shower, and an intensive deradicalization program that teaches achievement through something other than “k*lling Jews.” Before anyone assures Israel that Gazans have abandoned violence(without evidence), let them first leave uninhabitable Gaza and earn the trust of one country that isn’t Israel. Israel is the archenemy in their own telling, so let’s find one of their supporters to take on that project first, instead of demanding Israeli trust as the opening move.

Turkey formally joined NATO on 18 February 1952, together with Greece. It was NATO’s first enlargement.
The principal security driver was fear of the Soviet Union. After WWII, Stalin’s USSR put substantial pressure on Turkey. Moscow sought a greater Soviet role in controlling the Turkish Straits — the Bosporus and Dardanelles — and raised territorial claims involving Kars and Ardahan in eastern Turkey. Contemporary US assessments explicitly identified those Soviet demands as a major reason Turkey moved decisively toward the United States and Western Europe.
Turkey’s tensions with NATO allies didn’t start yesterday.

Same NATO. Very different outcome.
As you can see, Turkey in NATO is situationally. But Erdogan wants Jerusalem and the Ottoman Empire back. Pretty delusional.
