The situation may be different in a technical sense, but I believe what I said here holds true in form more than ever.

While there is never a guarantee of anything, it should be pretty apparent that things could get dangerous very soon for anyone perceived as an enemy/target of reprisal by MAGA. What we need right now is to be brave but careful, and pull together into communities to survive.

“Penthouse Blues” is all-timer bad as a song. Like, all (deserved) Tory hate aside, even, this man really said “I run through her tunnel like I’m Harriet Tubman” and thought that shit was alright. One of the worst lines I’ve ever heard.

Because, somewhere in me, he’d meant something to me in my life from seeing what he’d been like, what he became, and what he was able to do. In NASCAR, across all its leagues, he was one of the greatest to ever do it. Rest in peace, Kyle Busch, I can’t believe you’re gone.

I haven’t watch any NASCAR for a long time, but my family used to on a fairly regular basis, so I’ve known of Kyle Busch for a large part of my life. I remember first seeing him in what was then called the Bush Series (a kind of B-league to the A-league the Cup Series).

We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport's greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.

Hearing that he’d died, still in his career and only 41 years old, out of nowhere… it was a hit to gut. I made an exclamation, out loud, for someone I don’t know, and haven’t watched for a while (NASCAR isn’t in my life like it used to be).

@YuriGarcianovo At best, a couple of folk-ish songs are on the prog rock records here, TPAB has extremely strong jazz influences, and Kid A is has tracks derivative of EDM, jazz, and ambient music… but that’s about it. Not works from artists in those genres, specifically.

@YuriGarcianovo I feel it’s also worth noting the lack of genre diversity, which also indicates its own biases: 7 rock albums, and 3 hip hop. No metal, pop, folk, country, electronica, classical, or any of the many localized genres outside of European and American derived ones.

As more details emerge about Juniper, I cannot help but feel despair. Not just the despair that comes from sadness, but the deep, soul wrenching pain that comes with losing family.

It does not matter that I never knew her personally, her life was no less precious. And I mourn her as if I knew her. Because when a trans woman is brutalized, stabbed over and over with such cruelty, many of us feel that terror and grief in our bones. We see ourselves, our friends, our brothers, our sisters, enbies reflected back in that violence.

I learned the full story at work, it nearly brought me to tears. I was unable to focus, the grief clung so heavily in my chest. On top of all that, is the exhaustion that comes from watching trans lives repeatedly treated as disposable, not even in the wake is she spared from vicious comments.

Juniper deserved safety. She deserved dignity. She deserved the chance to grow old, to laugh, to love, to exist. Ffs she was only 19!
She deserved so much better, and my heart will mourn her and so many others we have lost along the way. There's so much more I want to say but I'll leave it at this.

Her name is Juniper Blessing. Rest in peace sister.

@sandlerverse I saw this movie as a kid, probably in early 2002, and it’s kind of blowing my mind that the main character was played by Jake Gyllenhaal, since that detail was not in my memory at all.

Also, this movie came out the same year as Donnie Darko, which I find kind of funny.
